GOV. SANWO-OLU FLAGS OFF 540-METRE ALHAJI JIMOH DRIVE/BAPTIST CHURCH STREET CONSTRUCTION IN IJEGUN, IBA LCDA ~ INN Nigeria ☆

The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, on Thursday, 6th November 2025, officially flagged off the construction of a 540-metre road along Alhaji Jimoh Drive/Baptist Church Street in Ijagemo, Ijegun, under the Iba Local Council Development Area (LCDA), in another giant stride toward infrastructural development at the grassroots level.

The project, executed by the Lagos State Government through the Office of Rural Development, marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts of the Sanwo-Olu administration to improve road connectivity and living standards in rural communities across the state especially in Alimosho axis.

Speaking during the flag-off ceremony, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, disclosed that the project is scheduled for completion within six months.

He added that it will be complemented with solar-powered streetlights to enhance road quality, visibility, and safety for residents.

Dr. Agbaje urged the Ijagemo community to cooperate fully with the contractors to ensure timely completion of the project.

He emphasized that the initiative is part of Governor Sanwo-Olu’s T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda, which prioritizes the transformation of rural areas into semi-urban settlements.

“This administration is committed to ensuring that every part of Lagos enjoys the dividends of democracy.”

“The Alhaji Jimoh Drive/Baptist Church Street construction will not only ease movement but also stimulate economic growth in Ijegun and its environs,” Dr. Agbaje stated.

Also speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa, described the project as a testament to Governor Sanwo-Olu’s capacity and sincerity in delivering on his promises to the grassroots.

She noted that the project underscores the government’s resolve to bring equitable development to all parts of Lagos State.

In his goodwill message, Dr. Yusuf Jimoh, a retired Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Audit Service Commission and Ministry of Special Duties, commended the Governor’s commitment to infrastructure development, stating that the Ijagemo community had long awaited such a transformative initiative.

Similarly, the APC Chairman of Iba LCDA, Alhaji Oyetolu Jamiu, lauded the state government and the Office of Rural Development for their proactive approach to community advancement, saying the office has continued to reach the nooks and crannies of the state with meaningful projects.

The Chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC) of Iba LCDA, Dr. Thomas Agbogunleri, expressed profound appreciation to Dr. Agbaje for his leadership and dedication in projecting the Governor’s developmental agenda across rural communities.

He assured the government of the community’s full support to ensure the project’s successful completion.

The flag-off event drew community leaders, political stakeholders, and residents who applauded the Lagos State Government’s continuous efforts in improving road networks and bringing governance closer to the people.
