The 37th edition of the annual Igbogbo Day Celebration reached a remarkable highlight on Sunday, 23rd November 2025, as Dr Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, was honoured with the Adeboruwa Award of Excellence for his exceptional contributions to the progress and development of Igbogbo Kingdom.
According to the organisers, the award was presented to Dr. Agbaje “in recognition of his outstanding and significant impact towards the development of Igbogbo Kingdom,” describing his passion for community growth, integrity, and generosity as “absolutely revered.”
The colourful ceremony, held in Igbogbo as part of the week-long cultural festival, drew dignitaries, traditional leaders, public office holders, and indigenes from within and outside the kingdom.
In his appreciation remarks, Dr. Agbaje expressed heartfelt gratitude to His Royal Majesty, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, for his steady leadership and fatherly support.
He also commended Hon. Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, Executive Chairman of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, for his dedication to the community’s advancement.
Dr. Agbaje further extended his appreciation to all sons and daughters of Igbogbo—home and abroad—for their commitment to preserving the town’s identity and pushing for collective development.
He reserved special commendation for the 2025 Igbogbo Day Planning Committee, applauding the team for delivering a successful, well-organised, and culturally rich celebration.
“The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, through the Office of Rural Development, will continue to transform the rural and underserved areas of the state, ensuring they benefit from the dividends of democracy,” Dr. Agbaje added
This latest honour adds to Dr. Agbaje’s growing profile as a champion of grassroots advancement.
Notably, he was also recently recognised with the Award of Excellence on Community Development by Oba Engr. Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu, at the 34th Ikorodu-Oga Festival Community Day—further cementing his reputation as one of the leading voices driving transformative development across Ikorodu Division.
