The Ito Progressive CDA in Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has lauded Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, for what residents have described as a groundbreaking wave of rural development projects reshaping their community.
The commendation comes as several major infrastructure initiatives, facilitated through the Lagos State Office of Rural Development, continue to take visible shape across the area.
Speaking during an inspection of ongoing works, Prince Taiwo Dosunmu, Chairman of the Ito Progressive Community Development Association (CDA), said the community is witnessing “a new dawn” under the Sanwo-Olu administration.
He noted that Ito, once plagued by infrastructural neglect, is now experiencing steady improvements that directly enhance the standard of living for residents.
According to him, the Governor’s interventions reflect a deliberate commitment to ensuring that rural communities are not left behind in the state’s broader development agenda.
“What we are seeing today in Ito is the true meaning of the dividends of democracy reaching the grassroots,” he said.
“The Governor has demonstrated that every community matters.”
Chairman of the Ito Project Committee, Alhaji Bika Moshuru, also praised the state government for what he described as a combination of essential and life-enhancing projects delivered within a relatively short period.
He highlighted key interventions such as the installation of a brand-new transformer to boost electricity supply, the establishment of a water scheme to improve access to clean water, and the installation of solar-powered streetlights that have significantly improved night-time visibility and security.
One of the most notable ongoing projects is the extensive grading and rehabilitation of the 3.8-kilometre Ito Road, which had long been a major concern for residents and commuters.
Alhaji Bika explained that the road, once nearly impassable during rainy seasons, is now being reshaped into a more accessible route that will enhance transportation, encourage business activities, and connect the community more efficiently to neighbouring areas.
Prince Dosunmu further extended the community’s appreciation to the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Kadri Hamzat, describing him as a dependable pillar in the implementation of the THEMES Plus Agenda.
He stated that the Deputy Governor’s technical expertise and support have strengthened the delivery of rural-based projects across Lagos.
In the same vein, the Chairman commended the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, for his proactive engagement with the community.
He disclosed that every request submitted by Ito Progressive Community had received the Special Adviser’s attention, following thorough on-the-spot evaluations conducted by his office.
These assessments, he said, ensured that interventions were well-informed, relevant, and timely.
“Residents of Ito say the projects have begun to yield significant benefits, including improved access to basic services, reduction in community-level hardships, and enhanced local security”.
“Many community members expressed optimism that the new infrastructure will help attract investment, encourage youth productivity, and stimulate socio-economic growth in the area.” He added
Other executives of the CDA described the Sanwo-Olu administration as “listening, responsive, and inclusive,” pledging to continue supporting government initiatives aimed at rural transformation.
