IJEDE LCDA COMMISSIONS NEW STATE-OF-THE-ART LEGISLATIVE BUILDING, CUSTOMARY COURT IN HISTORIC COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT MILESTONE ~ INN Nigeria ☆

Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA) on Wednesday recorded a historic stride in grassroots governance as the Executive Chairman, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba, formally commissioned two landmark community projects — a newly completed Legislative Building and a state-of-the-art Customary Court.

The commissioning ceremony drew a distinguished gathering of political leaders, traditional rulers, senior judicial officers, community stakeholders, and residents, many of whom described the event as “a transformational milestone” in the LCDA’s development trajectory.

The event was graced by an array of dignitaries, including former Minister Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro; Sen. Adeseye Kingsley Ogunleye; and elder statesman Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, a prominent member of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC).

Also present was Dr Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development; and Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun, Member representing Ikorodu Constituency II at the Lagos State House of Assembly.

The Lagos State Judiciary was well represented by the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Hon. Justice Kazeem Alogba, who lauded the LCDA leadership for its forward-looking investment in judicial infrastructure.

Traditional leadership was embodied by HRM Oba Egbin Abdulakeem Adeoriyomi Obateru, who praised the chairman for delivering people-focused projects that strengthen community harmony, administrative efficiency, and grassroots justice delivery.

Their presence underscored the strategic importance of the newly commissioned projects and the broad support enjoyed by the current LCDA administration.

In her remarks, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba stressed that the new Legislative Chamber and Customary Court represent a major leap toward strengthening the institutional framework of governance within Ijede LCDA.

“This building is not just bricks and mortar,” she said.

“It stands as a symbol of our shared aspiration for progress, effective service, and development. When we assumed office, we pledged to elevate the standard of governance and strengthen all arms of government. Today, we are fulfilling that promise.”

The chairman further described the facilities as key components of her administration’s long-term vision for a community where the executive, legislature, and judiciary function effectively and independently.

She recalled that since the LCDA’s creation in 2003 under late Yeye Fawuzat Gbadebo, residents had long awaited enabling infrastructure for all arms of government.

“Today, this achievement inspires constructive dialogue, visionary decision-making, and renewed unity in the service of our people,” she added.

Hon. Gbadebo-Alogba used the event to outline milestone achievements recorded since the start of her second term, including:
Commencement of free pre-summer coaching across primary schools; Annual distribution of Back-to-School materials; Successful hosting of primary school academic competitions; Completion of perimeter fencing at Okeletu Methodist Primary School.

Construction of six classroom blocks and eight toilet units at Okeletu Primary School; 98% completion of another six classrooms and toilet units at Abule-Eko; Complete renovation of six classrooms and construction of eight toilet units at the Arabic/Islamic school; Free breast examination and cervical cancer screening; Domestic violence awareness campaigns; Enhanced community sanitation activities.

Hosting of the maiden Ijede Tourism Day; Support for the annual Isese Day celebration; and expanded community engagement and improved staff welfare.

She reaffirmed the council’s commitment to delivering people-oriented governance and expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the positive impacts of the Renewed Hope Agenda, and to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his consistent support.

Vice Chairman Kareem Femi, in his welcome address, noted that the complex provides councillors with a more conducive environment to carry out legislative duties.

The project contractor, Engr. Olayinka Korede of De Stone Company, was recognized for delivering high-quality structures that include: A modern legislative chamber; Administrative offices; and A fully equipped Customary Court with its own chamber

HRM Oba Adeoriyomi Oyebo, the Obateru of Egbin Kingdom praised the chairman’s dedication to institutional development, describing the project as evidence of purposeful leadership.

GAC leader Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun applauded the chairman’s exceptional performance and stressed the importance of completing the Ijede Road to further accelerate development in Ikorodu Division.

Another GAC leader, Abiodun Ogunleye, described the facilities as significant milestones that will enhance the quality of governance in Ijede LCDA.

Chief Judge Justice Kazeem Alogba commended the council’s leadership, noting that while no administration can solve all problems, the current one “has done a lot and deserves to be celebrated.”

Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun praised the chairman for delivering world-class structures, describing them as essential tools for strengthening legislative and judicial functions in the LCDA.

“This is not just a building. It is a confidence booster,” he said. “When the legislative arm is vibrant and empowered, the council will continue to thrive.”

He assured residents that the second phase of the Ijede Road construction would commence shortly.

Lagos State APC Chairman Mr. Collins Ojelabi commended the people of Ijede for their strong electoral participation and applauded the chairman’s outstanding performance.

“This building is befitting, modern, and functional. It shows that the legislative arm now has an enabling environment to perform effectively,” he said.

The ceremony concluded with an extensive tour of the new facilities.
