
The Lagos State Government has officially commenced activities for the Year 2025 Annual Community Day Celebration with a Special Jumaat Service held on Friday at the Lagos State Central Mosque, Lagos Island.
The prayer service was organized to appreciate the Almighty for His continuous guidance over community development efforts in the state and to seek divine blessings for the success of this year’s celebration.
The event marks the formal kickoff of a series of activities lined up ahead of the grand finale.
Leading the state’s delegation was the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, who emphasized the importance of fostering unity, strengthening community engagement, and promoting peaceful coexistence across all localities in Lagos.
Dr. Agbaje noted that the Annual Community Day Celebration remains a major platform for recognizing and encouraging outstanding self-help projects executed by Community Development Associations (CDAs) across the state.
He added that beginning the celebration with prayers reflects the administration’s commitment to seeking divine guidance in implementing sustainable rural development initiatives.
Also in attendance was the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa, who expressed appreciation to stakeholders for their unwavering support in driving government-led community advancement programs.
The Chairman of the Lagos State Community Development Advisory Council, Alhaji Azeez Hamzat, joined other council members and ministry staff at the service, reaffirming the council’s readiness to collaborate with the state government to ensure a successful and impactful 2025 Community Day Celebration.
The grand finale of the celebration has been scheduled for Thursday, December 4, 2025, at the Police College, GRA, Ikeja, where exceptional community projects will be showcased and rewarded in recognition of grassroots contributions to the development of Lagos State.
The Lagos State Government encourages all CDAs, community leaders, and residents to actively participate in the forthcoming activities and uphold the spirit of community service that the celebration represents.
