Hon. (Dr) Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba, a prominent figure in Nigeria’s local government administration and a respected advocate for women’s political participation, has been conferred with the Outstanding Woman in Leadership Award by the Golden Integrated Empowerment Foundation.
The honour acknowledges her far-reaching contributions to community development, political empowerment, and humanitarian service across Ikorodu and beyond.
The award was presented on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at the prestigious Radisson Blu Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos.
The event brought together influential personalities from various sectors, marking a celebration of individuals who have demonstrated unwavering dedication to improving lives at the grassroots level.
Princess Folashade currently serves as the National Chairman and a Board of Trustees Member of the Association of Local Government Vice Chairmen of Nigeria (ALGOVC).
She is also the National Director of the APC Professional Women Council and the Immediate Past Vice Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government.
In addition to her national roles, she doubles as the Global Director General of the Asiwaju Distinguished Ambassadors Movement (ADAM), a political mobilization platform with nationwide influence.
Her philanthropic efforts through the Shelter of Grace Foundation — an organization she founded to support vulnerable groups, widows, and low-income families — were particularly highlighted during the ceremony.
The foundation has championed several initiatives ranging from youth empowerment programmes to women-focused economic interventions, aligning with her long-standing commitment to inclusive growth.
The organisers, Golden Integrated Empowerment Foundation, praised Princess Folashade for what they described as “an exemplary leadership style rooted in compassion, vision, and community service.”
They emphasized her role in promoting youth engagement, women development, and sustainable local governance, noting that her leadership legacy in Ikorodu has inspired a new generation of community advocates.
During her acceptance speech, Princess Folashade reflected on the importance of intentional leadership and the impact of a unified citizenry.
“One voice has the power to influence a room, and that same voice can reshape an entire nation,” she remarked, encouraging grassroots leaders to be bold, innovative, and steadfast in championing development.
She further applauded leaders who continue to demonstrate resilience amidst Nigeria’s socio-economic challenges, stressing that meaningful progress requires collective action.
“We all share responsibility in addressing the issues confronting our country. Leadership is not limited to those in office — every citizen has a role to play. Growth is a process, and we must all contribute to that process,” she added.
Princess Folashade also expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Golden Integrated Empowerment Foundation for deeming her worthy of the award.
She dedicated the honour to the people of Ikorodu, acknowledging their support throughout her political journey.
The ceremony attracted community leaders, political stakeholders, women groups, youth representatives, and supporters who applauded the foundation’s decision.
