The Nitel Estate Community Development Association (CDA) in Ikorodu Local Government has emerged as the second-best performing CDA in Lagos State, earning a brand-new bus at the 2025 Lagos State Community Day Celebration held at the Police College in Ikeja.

The event, presided over by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Kadri Hamzat, who represented Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, brought together community groups from across the state to celebrate outstanding achievements in grassroots development.

In his remarks, Dr. Hamzat reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to strengthening rural communities through the THEMES Plus Agenda.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, praised Nitel Estate CDA for its exceptional commitment to community-driven development.

He noted that the CDA, which is duly registered with the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, had embarked on an impressive series of self-help projects that significantly contributed to its recognition at the state level.

These projects include the purchase and installation of two 500kVA transformers, the erection of several high-tension and low-tension concrete poles, the grading of numerous roads, and the construction of drainage systems, culverts, and security posts.

The CDA also mounted entrance gates, installed solar street lights, constructed a perimeter fence, and engaged security personnel to ensure the safety and well-being of residents.

In recognition of these achievements, the wife of the Lagos State Governor, Dr. Mrs. Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, presented a brand-new bus to the Nitel Estate CDA during the award segment, commending the association for its dedication to improving the quality of life within the community.

The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Prince Adedayo Ladega, who was in attendance, applauded Governor Sanwo-Olu for his support for rural communities and for creating enabling policies that encourage grassroots development.

He also commended the Nitel Estate CDA for bringing pride to Ikorodu with its remarkable accomplishments.

Prince Ladega led his CDA during the colourful march-past, where various community groups showcased their unity and developmental strides.

The 2025 Lagos State Community Day Celebration once again underscored the importance of community participation in governance and highlighted the impactful role CDAs continue to play in driving sustainable development across the state.
