
The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, has congratulated the newly inaugurated Chairman and members of the Lagos State University (LASU) Governing Council, following their official inauguration by Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday.
Dr. Agbaje, who was in attendance at the ceremony, described the inauguration as a strong affirmation of the Lagos State Government’s commitment to academic excellence, improved governance in tertiary institutions, and the long-term development of Lagos State University.
During the event, Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted the central role LASU plays in shaping the future of young people and strengthening the academic reputation of the state.
He stated that the institution remains a cornerstone in Lagos’s vision for producing world-class graduates capable of driving innovation and development across sectors.
The Governor warmly welcomed the newly appointed Governing Council members and expressed confidence in their capacity to steer the university with integrity, transparency, and a renewed sense of purpose.
According to him, LASU’s continued progress depends on capable leadership committed to excellence and institutional advancement.
“LASU plays a central role in shaping the future of young people and strengthening our state’s academic standing. I am confident that this new Council will guide the university with integrity, focus, and a strong commitment to excellence,” Governor Sanwo-Olu noted.

Reacting to the Governor’s remarks, Dr. Agbaje congratulated the newly inaugurated Council and applauded the Governor’s foresight in selecting seasoned professionals to oversee the institution’s affairs.
He further expressed optimism that the Council’s leadership would contribute significantly to sustaining LASU’s status as one of Nigeria’s leading tertiary institutions.
He added that he looks forward to the progress ahead and the continued growth of LASU as a globally competitive academic powerhouse.
The newly inaugurated Council is expected to immediately begin implementing strategic measures aimed at strengthening academic quality, enhancing institutional governance, and promoting innovative initiatives that align with the broader goals of the Lagos State Government in the education sector.
