The 2026 fiscal year officially took shape in Ijede LCDA on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, as Executive Chairman Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba presented a ₦5.12 billion spending proposal to lawmakers at the Yeye Fausat Gbadebo Legislative Complex.
The document, crafted after what she described as “broad engagements with key stakeholders across all four wards,” charts a development roadmap anchored on infrastructure expansion and human-capacity improvement.
The budget sets aside more than ₦2.04 billion for capital projects, signalling intensified investment in core sectors such as education, healthcare, poverty-reduction programmes and community-driven initiatives.
According to the chairman, the financial plan mirrors the expectations of residents and is deliberately structured to ensure that citizens “feel government presence through meaningful amenities and practical interventions.”
The event drew an impressive assembly of political and community leaders, including Vice Chairman Hon. Femi Kabir; members of the CDC; religious figures; and senior council officials.

Legislators were also well represented by Deputy Leader Hon. Saka Nurudeen, Majority Leader Hon. Agbbibiaka Mustapha, Chief Whip Hon. Temilade Akinyemi and Council Clerk Mr. Shomoye A.O., joined by the apex political leadership of Ijede LCDA.
While addressing the chamber, Hon. Gbadebo-Alogba underscored the significance of planning as the backbone of good governance, noting that the 2026 proposal is a product of internal retreats and carefully coordinated consultations aimed at setting a clear and attainable development direction.
She emphasised transparency as a guiding principle, saying it was necessary for both the legislative body and the community “to understand the blueprint for the coming year.”
Reeling out priority areas, the chairman announced plans for additional primary health centres, strengthened social-welfare support, expanded grassroots projects, and an upgraded framework for youth and women-focused empowerment.
She appealed for continuous cooperation from residents, urging them to fulfil civic obligations and promising unwavering commitment to community advancement.

On the legislative side, House Leader Hon. Basirat Kehinde praised the executive for the improved structure of the budget, highlighting the re-engineered funding distribution—which she described as more strategic and impactful than the previous year.
She particularly commended the heightened emphasis on education, deeming it essential for long-term societal growth.
Hon. Kehinde also acknowledged the steady progress recorded under the current administration, attributing it to the chairman’s hands-on leadership and direct engagement with grassroots communities.
She assured residents that the incoming financial year would deliver more improvements in service delivery, project execution and overall welfare initiatives.
The 2026 budget presentation, received with strong support from both political leaders and community stakeholders, marks another coordinated effort between the executive and legislative arms to accelerate development across Ijede LCDA.

With scrutiny and deliberations set to begin, the council prepares for what many anticipate will be a year of intensified infrastructural renewal and strengthened human-capital growth.
