REP. BENSON LEADS STAKEHOLDERS ON PROJECT INSPECTION, REAFFIRMS INFRASTRUCTURE PUSH ACROSS IKORODU DIVISION ~ INN Nigeria ☆

The Member of the House of Representatives for Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, on Saturday, December 13, 2025, undertook a comprehensive inspection of ongoing road construction projects across Ikorodu, underscoring his commitment to quality infrastructure delivery and community-focused development.

The project tour drew a broad spectrum of political leaders and stakeholders from within the division.

Present were members of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Gbolahan Ogunleye (Ikorodu I) and Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun (Ikorodu II), as well as the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje.

Also accompanying the lawmaker were chairmen of local governments and local council development areas (LCDAs) in Ikorodu Division.

They included Prince Adedayo Abdullateef Ladega of Ikorodu Local Government; Mayor Ameen Olawale Apanishile of Ikorodu North LCDA; Hon. (Chief) Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju of Ikorodu West LCDA; and Omo’ba Hammed Ọlálékan Aroyewun of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA.

Community participation featured prominently, with leaders of the Ikorodu North LCDA Community Development Committee (CDC), alongside representatives of the Agbede community and several Community Development Associations (CDAs), joining the inspection.

Speaking during the exercise, Hon. Benson reiterated his resolve to deliver sustainable, people-oriented infrastructure, describing the ongoing road projects as part of broader efforts to improve mobility, safety and economic opportunities for residents.

According to the federal lawmaker, the interventions align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, which he described as a framework anchored on inclusive growth, practical governance and infrastructure that directly impacts citizens’ daily lives.

The inspection began at Solebo Estate, where five internal roads—Afolabi Ekiyoyo, Abike Jokogbola, Serah Olakunbi, Yomi Oshikoya and Sabitiu Olokunola Streets—are being reconstructed simultaneously.

Hon. Benson noted that the estate, regarded as one of Ikorodu’s prominent residential areas, is witnessing a major transformation through the overhaul of its internal road network.

The team also visited the 7.5-kilometre Agbede–Ita Oluwo Road, a long-anticipated project flagged off in late September.

Expressing satisfaction with the progress and workmanship, Hon. Benson said the road would ease transportation bottlenecks, improve inter-community connectivity, attract investment and stimulate economic activities across the corridor.

He added that positive feedback from residents reflected the importance of the intervention.

The lawmaker thanked party leaders and stakeholders across Ikorodu Division for their support throughout the inspection, noting that collective effort remains key to sustaining development.

“Our focus is to change the narrative of Ikorodu—building roads that connect people and creating pathways that open doors for future generations,” he said.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, commended Rep. Benson for what he described as effective representation and visible leadership.

He said the quality and spread of the projects demonstrated a clear grassroots development agenda, while assuring residents of the state government’s readiness to deepen infrastructure investment under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Dr. Agbaje also acknowledged the roles of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly and the Lagos State Government for providing the policy environment that enables collaboration and service delivery at all levels.

Similarly, Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun of the Lagos State House of Assembly praised Hon. Benson’s dedication to Ikorodu, assuring residents that the state government remains committed to complementing federal interventions with additional projects.

The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu West Local Government, Hon. (Chief) Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju, expressed appreciation for the construction and linkage of five roads within his council area, noting that improved connectivity would boost commerce, reduce travel stress and enhance living standards.

Mayor Ameen Olawale Apanishile of Ikorodu North LCDA described the Agbede Road project as long overdue, adding that its construction would bring lasting relief to residents, open up the area and accelerate social and economic development.

On behalf of community leaders, the Chairman of the Ikorodu North LCDA Community Development Committee, Prince Ogunbanwo Adeniran, lauded the federal lawmaker and other stakeholders for prioritising grassroots needs.

He disclosed that the road projects connect no fewer than nine communities, significantly improving access and interaction.

Prince Ogunbanwo added that the enhanced road network would shorten travel time, ease movement, improve access to markets and essential services, and drive overall growth.

He reaffirmed the support of communities for the projects and called for sustained collaboration to ensure proper maintenance and long-term benefits.
