
The Executive Chairman of Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba, in a significant boost to basic education, on November 17, 2025, officially commissioned newly completed classroom projects in five primary schools across Ijede.
The initiative underscores her administration’s commitment to enhancing learning environments and providing quality educational infrastructure.
The commissioning ceremony took place at Methodist Primary School, Okeletu, which served as the central venue for the event.
The intervention included extensive improvements across the schools, as follows:
Methodist Primary School, Oke-Eletu: 6 blocks of classrooms and 8 units of toilets
AUI Primary School, Ijede: 6 blocks of classrooms and 8 units of toilets
Anglican Primary School, Ijede: 6 blocks of classrooms and 8 units of toilets
Community Primary School, Abule-Eko: 6 blocks of classrooms and 8 units of toilets
Egbin Kingdom Primary School: 4 blocks of classrooms and 4 units of toilets
During the event, Hon. Gbadebo-Alogba highlighted that the projects are designed to improve learning conditions for pupils across all public primary schools within Ijede LCDA.
She emphasized that well-equipped classrooms are essential for both academic success and the overall development of students.
The Executive Chairman urged teachers to take responsibility for the maintenance and proper use of the new facilities, stating that their care would encourage the council to initiate more educational projects in the future.
“These classrooms are built for use, and I appeal to all teachers to ensure they are maintained. Your cooperation will inspire us to do even more for education,” she said.
Hon. Gbadebo-Alogba also called on students to respect and safeguard the new facilities, noting that the investment aims to support their academic growth.
She encouraged learners to remain focused, stressing that a conducive environment comes with the responsibility to excel.
“If we provide a supportive learning environment, it is expected that students will dedicate themselves to their studies and make the community proud,” she added.
The commissioning was formally carried out by Hon. Hassan Adefarasi, alongside the Education Secretary, Mr. Odumbo Taiwo.
Also in attendance was Mrs. Alonge Adenike, Headmistress of Methodist Primary School, Okeletu, who expressed heartfelt appreciation to the LCDA leadership for the intervention.
She highlighted that the improved infrastructure would positively impact the academic performance and morale of both pupils and staff.
Mrs. Adenike further commended the Executive Chairman for her dedication to the development of public schools in the area, acknowledging the consistent efforts of the LCDA administration to enhance learning conditions.
“I sincerely appreciate the Executive Chairman because she has continually supported our schools. The recent improvements will greatly enhance teaching and learning at Methodist Primary School,” she said.
The Headmistress also noted that the council’s support has boosted teacher morale and created a more conducive learning environment, urging the school community to maximize the benefits of the new facilities.
Assistant Headmistress, Mrs. Omodunni Elizabeth, described the project as the fulfillment of a long-awaited dream for the school.
She praised the Executive Chairman for delivering on her promises and for her proactive leadership.
“What was once a dream is now a reality. Hon. Gbadebo-Alogba is truly a chairman of all chairmen – a go-getter who ensures results,” Mrs. Omodunni said, adding that the school had previously benefited from interventions such as stationery and educational materials.
She described the newly commissioned classrooms as a “giant blessing” to the school.
Students also expressed gratitude.
Mistress Akanni Farida thanked the chairman for constructing the new classrooms and for consistently providing resources that enhance teaching and learning.
She encouraged her peers to be disciplined, respectful, and attentive in class, emphasizing that good behavior is key to making the most of the improved facilities.
Community members, education stakeholders, and school officials praised the initiative, describing it as a timely investment in the future of Ijede’s children.
They applauded the Executive Chairman for prioritizing education and called for continued support for public schools throughout the LCDA.
