The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, on Wednesday, December 18, 2025, convened a stakeholders’ meeting to assess the level of progress recorded on the ongoing 1.3-kilometre Egbeyemi Monsuru and Alhaja Agbaje Street road construction project.
The meeting, held as part of the state government’s continuous monitoring of rural infrastructure development, brought together community stakeholders, contractors, and government officials to review achievements so far and address areas requiring enhanced collaboration for accelerated delivery.
Dr. Agbaje attended the inspection alongside officials from the technical department of the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development.
The team conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the project to ascertain the quality and pace of work being carried out by the contractors.

Speaking during the engagement, the Special Adviser emphasized the importance of sustained cooperation between residents, community leaders, and contractors, noting that harmonious collaboration remains critical to completing the project within record time and to expected standards.
He reiterated the Lagos State Government’s commitment to delivering durable and people-oriented infrastructure that improves connectivity, economic activities, and quality of life in rural and semi-urban communities.
Findings from the inspection revealed significant progress on the project, with the construction of two-sided drainage currently ongoing.
Soft grading of the road has also commenced, laying the groundwork for subsequent stages of the construction.
Dr. Agbaje commended the level of work achieved so far and assured stakeholders that the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu remains resolute in ensuring that rural road projects are properly executed, closely supervised, and completed for the benefit of the people.

Community stakeholders including the CDC chairman, Alhaji Lookman Sonibare, in turn, acknowledged the government’s intervention and pledged continued support to facilitate smooth execution of the project, expressing optimism that the completed road will ease movement, reduce flooding, and enhance socio-economic activities in the area.
The Egbeyemi Monsuru and Alhaja Odele Street road project forms part of the Lagos State Government’s broader rural development agenda aimed at strengthening infrastructure and promoting inclusive growth across all divisions of the state.
