The Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has commenced the second phase of its community-focused empowerment programme, extending financial support to residents and small business operators across the council area.

The initiative, tagged Ijede Tunrayo Community Empowerment Cash Grant, was officially launched on Monday, December 22, 2025, by the Executive Chairman of Ijede LCDA, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba, as part of ongoing efforts to cushion economic pressures and strengthen grassroots livelihoods.

The cash intervention targets a broad spectrum of beneficiaries, including artisans, petty traders, market women, roadside shop owners, religious institutions, persons living with disabilities (PWDs), and elderly residents within the community.

Addressing beneficiaries at the event, Hon. Gbadebo-Alogba explained that the programme is designed to support micro-businesses and vulnerable groups, while contributing to economic stability at the local level.

She noted that the empowerment scheme aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and would be executed in phases to reach more residents.

According to the council chairman, each beneficiary under the current phase is to receive a cash grant of ₦50,000, aimed at easing daily financial challenges, particularly during the festive season.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Olopade, a visually impaired recipient, expressed gratitude to the council leadership for what he described as a timely and impactful intervention.

He praised the administration for prioritising inclusiveness and community welfare.
Also reacting, Mrs. Disu Dickson commended the council chairman for her people-oriented leadership, thanking the local government on behalf of her family and other beneficiaries for the financial support.

The empowerment programme forms part of the broader social intervention initiatives of the Ijede LCDA, focused on economic inclusion, poverty alleviation, and improved quality of life for residents.
