
The Acting Dean of Student Affairs, Lagos State University (LASU), Associate Professor Surajudeen Abiodun Fatai-Abatan, recently presented the Ipakodo All Stars Football Club Recognition Award to Dr Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Rural Development, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to community development and rural infrastructure advancement in Ikorodu and other parts of the state.
Presenting the award, Associate Prof. Fatai-Abatan commended Dr Agbaje for his commitment to improving the living conditions of rural dwellers through impactful policies and strategic interventions.
He noted that the Special Adviser’s efforts in promoting inclusive development, youth empowerment and infrastructural renewal have continued to yield tangible benefits for underserved communities across Lagos State.
According to Abiodun Abatan, the recognition by Ipakodo All Stars Football Club reflects genuine appreciation from grassroots communities for leadership that prioritises their welfare and long-term development.
He added that LASU, as a public institution rooted in academic excellence and social responsibility, remains committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen community engagement, rural development and youth inclusion.
Prof. Fatai-Abatan further stressed the importance of collaboration among government, educational institutions and community-based organisations in driving sustainable development, noting that such partnerships are critical to addressing rural challenges and harnessing local potential.
Receiving the award, Dr Agbaje, an alumnus of Lagos State University, expressed deep gratitude to the Ipakodo All Stars Football Club and the LASU Student Affairs Division for the honour.
He described the award as a strong motivation to intensify his commitment to people-centred development, particularly in rural communities that require focused attention and strategic investment.
He reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s commitment, under the leadership of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, to expanding rural infrastructure, improving access roads, upgrading community facilities and empowering local talents through sports and social development programmes.
The Special Adviser also praised the role of grassroots sports clubs such as Ipakodo All Stars in promoting unity, discipline and youth development within local communities.
