REP. BENSON ENGAGES IKORODU STAKEHOLDERS, PUSHES APC MEMBERSHIP DRIVE, HIGHLIGHTS FEDERAL INTERVENTIONS ~ INN Nigeria ☆

The Member of the House of Representatives representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, has reaffirmed his commitment to grassroots development as he convened his quarterly stakeholders’ meeting on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at his constituency office in Ikorodu, Lagos State.

The high-level engagement attracted party leaders, council chairmen, community influencers, and critical stakeholders drawn from across the Ikorodu Division, providing a platform to review political strategies, reinforce party unity, and unveil major federal interventions slated for the constituency.

Addressing attendees, Rep. Benson disclosed that several capital-intensive projects targeted at addressing long-standing infrastructural and social needs in Ikorodu have been successfully secured and reflected in the 2026 Federal Budget.

Chief among them is the construction of an overhead bridge at Majidun, a project expected to significantly ease traffic congestion and enhance connectivity within the axis.

The federal lawmaker further announced that Ikorodu Federal Constituency has been selected to host strategic federal institutions, including a Federal Medical Centre (FMC) and a Command Day Secondary School, initiatives he attributed to sustained legislative advocacy and the Federal Government’s renewed focus on equitable development under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

Providing a breakdown of project locations, Benson revealed that the Command Day Secondary School will be sited at Odongunyan in Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA), while Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA has been approved as the host community for the proposed Federal Medical Centre.

He also disclosed plans for the construction of a modern sporting stadium in Ipakodo, Ikorodu West LCDA, aimed at promoting youth development and sports excellence.

Beyond project announcements, the lawmaker used the occasion to charge party leaders to remain resolute and proactive in consolidating the dominance of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikorodu.

He urged stakeholders to fully mobilise for the ongoing APC nationwide membership registration exercise, stressing the need for Ikorodu to emerge as the leading contributor nationwide.

“As the membership registration continues, I expect Ikorodu to once again take the lead. Let us register the highest number of APC members in Nigeria,” Benson challenged.

He reminded party leaders that their coordinated efforts during the 2023 general elections earned Ikorodu the distinction of producing the highest local government votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging them to surpass that milestone through the current registration drive.

While commending stakeholders for their past electoral achievements, Benson encouraged them to demonstrate sustained leadership, noting that consistent excellence naturally attracts greater expectations and responsibilities.

He cited a popular maxim credited to former Lagos State Governor and immediate past Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, that “the reward for success is more work.”

The lawmaker also applauded chairmen of the various local councils within the constituency for integrating the APC membership registration drive with the ongoing National Identification Number (NIN) registration, describing the approach as strategic and people-focused.

According to him, Ikorodu’s impressive voting record over successive elections has remained a critical factor in attracting federal presence and developmental interventions to the area.

He therefore urged stakeholders to intensify their efforts, assuring them of his readiness to reciprocate their loyalty through the facilitation of additional projects.

“I want Mr. President to look at the APC registration figures and say, ‘Ikorodu, again,’ when he sees how outstanding this constituency has performed,” Benson stated.

The meeting concluded on an optimistic note, with party leaders collectively pledging renewed commitment to strengthening the APC’s grassroots base in Ikorodu through massive membership mobilisation and sustained electoral victories.

Speaking on the sidelines of the meeting, Mayor Deen Sanwoola, Director-General of the iCare Foundation, aligned with the lawmaker’s assurances, stating that residents of Ikorodu Federal Constituency should brace for more people-oriented interventions.

He disclosed that the year 2026 would witness the rollout of several impactful initiatives by the foundation across the constituency.

Earlier in the meeting, the APC leadership across Ikorodu Division passed a vote of confidence on Rep. Babajimi Benson, applauding his legislative effectiveness and the scale of developmental projects attracted to the constituency under his representation.
