Residents of Mowo Extension Community Zone 3 in Badagry Local Government Area of Lagos State were thrown into jubilation following the delivery and full installation of a brand new electricity transformer by the Lagos State Government.
The transformer was delivered and installed on January 27, 2026, through the Lagos State Government’s Office of Rural Development, as part of its rural electrification initiative aimed at cushioning the effects of inadequate power supply in underserved communities across the state.
The intervention, which goes beyond mere delivery to include complete installation and readiness for use, is expected to significantly improve electricity access in the community, boost small-scale businesses, and enhance the overall quality of life of residents who have endured prolonged power challenges.
Speaking on the development, the Chairman of Mowo Extension Community, Mr. Nnamdi Donatus, expressed profound gratitude to Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, describing the project as long overdue.
He noted that the successful delivery and installation of the transformer marked a turning point for the community’s socio-economic wellbeing.
The chairman also commended Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, the Lagos State APC Chairman, whom he described as a former community leader in their area.
He stated that the APC chairman encouraged them to remain patient during the period when their request for a new transformer was conveyed to the state government.
Mr. Donatus further commended the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, for his commitment and proactive efforts in ensuring that the transformer not only reached the community but was also properly installed.
In his remarks, Dr. Agbaje stated that several rural and underserved communities across Lagos State have benefited from similar interventions, stressing that the electrification drive is a strategic component of the Sanwo-Olu administration’s developmental agenda.
He affirmed that the initiative reflects Governor Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES Plus Agenda, which promotes inclusive governance and equitable distribution of infrastructure across all regions of the state.
Dr. Agbaje added that access to stable electricity remains a critical catalyst for grassroots development, economic growth, and improved living standards, reiterating the government’s commitment to leaving no community behind.
