Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, in a major boost for rural electrification, on February 3, 2026, delivered a brand-new transformer to the Isale-Agoro Community Development Association (CDA) in Epe Local Government Area.
The initiative, facilitated by the Lagos State Government through the Office of Rural Development, forms part of the administration’s ongoing commitment to improving infrastructure and quality of life in rural communities across the state.
The delivery of the transformer was met with jubilation from residents and community leaders, who have long struggled with erratic electricity supply that has disrupted daily life and economic activities.
Alhaji Wasiu Anifowoshe, Chairman of the Isale-Agoro CDA, expressed profound gratitude to the state government, noting that the timing of the intervention could not have been better.
“For years, our community has experienced power shortages that have affected our homes, businesses, and community projects.”
“The arrival of this transformer marks a turning point for Isale-Agoro,” he said.
He further commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for placing rural communities at the forefront of his THEMES Plus Agenda, describing the move as a clear demonstration that the Governor listens to the needs of the grassroots.
Alhaji Anifowoshe also recognized the efforts of Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, for conducting a thorough needs assessment and ensuring the community’s request was acted upon.
In his remarks, Dr. Agbaje reiterated the administration’s commitment to addressing rural electricity challenges.
“Governor Sanwo-Olu believes that no community, regardless of its location, should be left behind.”
“The Office of Rural Development has been pivotal in identifying needs and facilitating solutions, and today’s commissioning is a testament to that approach,” he stated.

The new transformer is expected to stabilize electricity supply, enhance productivity, and improve living conditions for residents.
The Vice Chairman of the CDA, Mr. Amuni Isiak, described the intervention as a vital step toward closing the infrastructural gap between urban and rural areas, noting that communities like Isale-Agoro stand to benefit significantly from increased access to electricity and other essential services.
Alhaji Kekere Akurasak, the CDA Secretary expressed optimism that the newly installed transformer would not only boost domestic electricity supply but also support small businesses, schools, and healthcare facilities, driving overall community growth.
Dr. Agbaje highlighted that the initiative aligns with Governor Sanwo-Olu’s broader vision for Lagos State, emphasising rural electrification, education, health, and infrastructural development.
“With sustained attention from the state government and strategic engagement through offices such as Rural Development, communities across Lagos are already experiencing tangible improvements that enhance their standard of living and open up new opportunities for growth,” he said.
