
The Lagos State Government on Sunday, 8th February 2026, delivered a brand-new electricity transformer to the Ajaiyi-Oronti Community Development Association (CDA) in Agbele, Ikorodu Central, as residents turned out in large numbers to celebrate the development, describing it as a significant boost to the area’s electricity supply.
The transformer was delivered under the state’s Rural Electrification Initiative through the Office of Rural Development, a programme aimed at improving electricity access in rural and underserved communities across Lagos State.
Chairman of Ajaiyi-Oronti CDA, Alhaji Abeeb Adegbite, applauded Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for responding to the electricity needs of the community, describing the intervention as timely and impactful.
According to him, the provision of the transformer would significantly improve the quality of life for residents and enhance economic and social activities within the community.
He also commended the Lagos State Government for its sustained commitment to grassroots development.
Alhaji Adegbite specifically lauded the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, for ensuring the successful delivery of the transformer.
He noted that the intervention followed a formal request by the community and a prompt needs assessment carried out by the Office of Rural Development.
Also in attendance at the presentation was Hon. Oluwakemi Buraimoh, Councillor representing Ward F in Ikorodu Local Government, who praised Governor Sanwo-Olu for extending the dividends of democracy to the ward.
He described the transformer delivery as evidence of the administration’s focus on inclusive development and grassroots empowerment.
Hon. Buraimoh further commended Dr. Agbaje for his “giant strides” in rural electrification across Ikorodu Division and other parts of the state, noting that such interventions have continued to ease the challenges faced by residents in rural communities.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje urged residents to direct their appreciation to Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, stressing that the delivery of the transformer was made possible through the governor’s approval and support.
He added that the ongoing distribution of transformers across rural communities reflects the people-oriented and inclusive nature of the Governor’s THEMES Plus Agenda, which prioritises improved infrastructure and enhanced living standards for all residents of Lagos State.
