GOV. SANWO-OLU DELIVERS NEW TRANSFORMER TO PROGRESSIVE CDA, EGAN, BOOSTING POWER SUPPLY IN IGANDO-IKOTUN ~ INN Nigeria ☆

Residents of Progressive Community Development Association (CDA), Egan, in Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Lagos State, have expressed joy and gratitude following the delivery of a brand new electricity transformer by the Lagos State Government.

The transformer was officially presented to the community on Sunday, February 8, 2026, through the Lagos State Government’s Office of Rural Development, under its ongoing Rural Electrification Initiative.

The initiative is designed to improve electricity supply and support socio-economic activities in underserved communities across the state.

Speaking during the presentation, the Chairman of Progressive CDA, Engr. Adesina Adeleye, commended Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for approving the provision of the transformer to the community.

He described the intervention as timely and impactful, noting that it would significantly improve electricity supply and enhance the quality of life of residents.

Engr. Adeleye also praised the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, for ensuring the successful delivery of the transformer.

According to him, the intervention followed a formal request submitted by the community and a subsequent needs assessment conducted by the Office of Rural Development to ascertain the urgency of the request.

Also speaking, the Vice Chairman of the CDA, Alhaji Akeem Atakon, expressed appreciation to the Lagos State Government, stating that the new transformer would help cushion persistent power challenges faced by residents and small businesses within the community.

In his remarks, the Secretary of the CDA, Prince Adeyemi Bamidele, noted that the transformer arrived at a critical time when the community was in dire need of improved electricity infrastructure.

He described the government’s response as a clear demonstration of its commitment to grassroots development.

Community elders and other stakeholders were also present at the event, where they collectively expressed profound appreciation to the state government for listening to the needs of the people and responding promptly.

In a brief address, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje reiterated that Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu remains committed to supporting underserved communities across Lagos State.

He emphasized that the administration’s people-centered approach to governance is focused on delivering the dividends of democracy to the grassroots, particularly through critical infrastructure such as electricity.

“The delivery of the transformer is expected to improve power supply in Progressive CDA, stimulate local economic activities, and further strengthen trust between the government and residents of the community” Dr Agbaje added.
