
Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has been lauded by residents of the United Enclave Community Development Association (CDA), Selewu, in Igbogbo-Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Lagos State, for the delivery of a brand-new electricity transformer, which they described as a timely response to the community’s long-standing power challenges.
The transformer was officially presented to the community on Sunday, February 8, 2026, by the Lagos State Government through the Office of Rural Development, as part of its ongoing Rural Electrification Initiative aimed at improving power supply in underserved and rural communities across the state.
Speaking during the presentation, the Chairman of United Enclave CDA, Engr. Olatunbosun Ladipo, expressed deep appreciation to Governor Sanwo-Olu for prioritising the welfare of grassroots communities.
He noted that the new transformer would significantly alleviate electricity-related challenges that residents had endured over time.
Engr. Ladipo also commended the Office of Rural Development for its swift intervention, stressing that the prompt approval and delivery of the transformer demonstrated the government’s commitment to responsive and people-oriented governance.
“This gesture shows that our voices were heard. The timely response from the Office of Rural Development has brought renewed hope to our community,” he said.
The presentation attracted a large turnout of residents, who received the transformer with joy and excitement.
Community members praised the Lagos State Government for extending the dividends of democracy to the grassroots, describing the intervention as a boost to social and economic activities within the enclave.
In his remarks, the Baale of Selewu Community, Chief Olusola Adeleke Olugbode, commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for not neglecting rural communities in the state’s development drive. He described the transformer delivery as evidence of inclusive governance.
Chief Olugbode also expressed gratitude to the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, for ensuring that rural communities continue to receive adequate support from the state government.

Addressing the community, Dr. Agbaje reaffirmed the commitment of the Sanwo-Olu administration to extending critical infrastructure to rural and underserved areas.
He emphasized that communities such as Selewu remain a key focus under the Governor’s THEMES Plus Agenda.
According to him, “The Lagos State Government will continue to ensure that no community is left behind.”
“Rural electrification and other infrastructure projects will be sustained to improve the quality of life and drive development at the grassroots.”
The transformer delivery marks another milestone in the state’s rural development efforts, reinforcing the government’s resolve to bridge infrastructure gaps and promote inclusive growth across Lagos State.
