IDPIL TOURS MEDIA ROUND STATE-OF-THE-ART ICU, DIALYSIS CENTRE AT IKORODU GENERAL HOSPITAL; MAY 7 SET FOR INAUGURATION ~ INN Nigeria ☆

The Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative Limited (IDPIL) has showcased its newly completed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Renal Centre at the General Hospital, Ikorodu, with the official inauguration slated for May 7.

During a guided media inspection on Thursday, journalists were conducted round the facility to assess the scope of work and the advanced medical equipment installed to enhance critical and renal healthcare services across Ikorodu Division.

Addressing reporters, Otunba Olusegun Abiru, the Executive Secretary of IDPIL commended members of the press for their sustained partnership and media visibility, describing the project as a landmark intervention in the local health sector.

He disclosed that the organisation is considering further expansion projects, including plans that could transform the hospital into an orthopaedic and teaching facility in the future.

The newly built centre houses a fully equipped Intensive Care Unit alongside a modern Renal (Dialysis) Centre designed to cater for patients battling kidney-related ailments.

The complex features dedicated dialysis suites, nurses’ stations, call rooms, consulting offices, doctors’ workspaces, a patient waiting lounge, a staff meeting room, distribution board panels, and other essential support facilities.

The ICU wing provides a 22-bed capacity to manage critically ill patients requiring specialised and continuous monitoring.

Beyond patient care, the facility is also positioned to support clinical training for healthcare professionals and medical students.

Speaking at the event, High Chief Adewunmi Ogunsanya (SAN), the Chairman of IDPIL stressed that the project represents a collective commitment rather than an individual accomplishment.

According to him, the initiative reflects the shared vision of IDPIL members to strengthen healthcare delivery in Ikorodu, noting that the presence of such a high-grade medical facility will boost both treatment capacity and professional medical training within the community.

Also speaking, Dr. Kareem Lukman, Director of Clinical Services and Training, who stood in for the Chief Medical Director/CEO, Dr. T.K. Hassan, highlighted the strategic importance of the centre in reinforcing emergency response and dialysis services at the hospital.

When fully operational, the ICU and Renal Centre is expected to ease the strain on patients and families who previously travelled outside Ikorodu in search of specialised kidney care and intensive medical treatment.
