No fewer than 500 residents across Ikorodu Division benefited from the February 2026 edition of the monthly Food Bank initiative sponsored by Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, Member representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
The distribution, held under the auspices of the iCare Foundation—an intervention platform established in 2016 by the federal lawmaker—continued its long-standing tradition of providing relief to vulnerable households across the division.
Popularly known as “Apo Anu,” the initiative has become a dependable source of support for widows, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and unemployed youth.
The February exercise commenced with a structured registration process, during which beneficiaries from various local governments and wards were duly captured into a database and assigned identification numbers to ensure transparency and orderliness.
Officials of the iCare Foundation supervised the process to guarantee a smooth and equitable distribution.
Among dignitaries present at the event were Hon. Abosede Benson, Leader of the House, Ikorodu North LCDA; Mr. Taiwo Odumbo, Education Secretary, District II; Monsurat Odumbo; Billiamin Oba, Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on Social Affairs; Hon. Jessica Oba, Leader of the House, Ikorodu West LCDA; and Hon. Abisoye Omowunmi, Vice Chairman, Imota LCDA.
Since its inception in 2016, the iCare Foundation has reached thousands of residents through its monthly and festive distributions, with a minimum of 500 beneficiaries each month.
The programme has steadily earned a reputation as one of the most consistent humanitarian interventions in Ikorodu Division.
Earlier, the Director-General of the iCare Foundation, Mayor Deen Sanwoola, reaffirmed Hon. Benson’s commitment to the overall well-being of his constituents.
He noted that since assuming office in 2015, the federal lawmaker has sustained an inclusive welfare system and a development-driven approach to representation, prioritising both social support and infrastructural growth across the constituency.
Hon. Abosede Benson commended the federal lawmaker for his unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people, describing him as a pillar of support for widows and the less privileged in the constituency.
Some beneficiaries who spoke with Ikorodu News Network on the sidelines of the exercise expressed appreciation for what they described as Rep. Benson’s benevolence and caring disposition.
Many also pledged continued support for the lawmaker ahead of future electoral cycles.
Elder Ayodele Oguntola of the “A Friendly Support Group,” Ikorodu, who has benefited from the programme on several occasions, noted that Hon. Benson’s generosity stands out among political office holders within and outside the division.
He recalled supporting the lawmaker since 2019 and affirmed his group’s loyalty in the years ahead, including the 2027 general elections.
Miss Blessing enuwge from Adamo in Ikorodu North LCDA, a first-time beneficiary, described the gesture as “very nice” and prayed for continued success for the federal representative.
Mr. Micheal Ego, a person with disability from Asolo in Ikorodu West LCDA, expressed deep gratitude, stating that the support would go a long way in meeting his immediate needs.
Another beneficiary, Mrs. Adijat Quadri, also offered prayers for the lawmaker’s continued progress and impact.
For many of the recipients, the food packs represented more than material support—they symbolised hope and reassurance amid prevailing economic challenges.
