Agbowa, Ikorodu — First Lady of Lagos State, Dr (Mrs) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, on the 20th of February 2026, led a moment of hope, dignity, and renewed commitment to child welfare as she officially commissioned the Kitchen Transformation Project at the Home of God’s Grace Orphanage in Agbowa, Ikorodu.
The project, facilitated by IBILE Oil and Gas Corporation (IOGC), replaces the orphanage’s traditional firewood cooking system with a modern Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG)-powered kitchen, marking a significant shift toward cleaner, safer, and more environmentally sustainable energy use.
In her address at the ceremony, the First Lady, ably represented by Mrs. Mojisola Agbaje, described the project as “thoughtful and laudable,” emphasizing that it represents far more than a mere structural upgrade.
“Today’s commissioning is the unveiling of hope, dignity, and a better quality of life for the children and caregivers in this orphanage,” she said.
She noted that the transition from firewood to LPG would significantly improve the health and safety of the children and staff, while also contributing to environmental preservation.

According to her, the initiative aligns with the Lagos State Government’s broader vision of fostering a healthier, safer, and environmentally friendly society.
The First Lady also linked the project to the global agenda encapsulated in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in areas of clean energy, health, and environmental sustainability.
Addressing the children directly, she reassured them of society’s love and commitment to their well-being.
“You are loved, valued, and not forgotten. This kitchen is a symbol of care for your well-being, and it is my hope that it brings you comfort, nourishment, and joy every single day,” she said.
Speaking at the event, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of IOGC, Temitayo Gbajumo, reiterated the corporation’s mission to provide sustainable, clean, reliable, and stable energy that meets society’s needs in an environmentally responsible manner.

He explained that IOGC is dedicated to meeting the energy demands of government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), residents, and industrial and commercial businesses across Lagos State and beyond.
Gbajumo emphasized that the corporation operates with a strong commitment to corporate governance, ethical standards, integrity, and long-term value creation.
Established under the IBILE Oil and Gas Corporation Law, 2013 (now Cap 11, Laws of Lagos State, 2015), IOGC is a wholly owned entity of the Lagos State Government.
The corporation serves as the state’s commercial oil and gas vehicle, focused on ensuring energy security across the value chain and driving energy transition initiatives through the adoption of cleaner fuels.
The Kitchen Transformation Project, he said, is part of IOGC’s broader corporate social responsibility strategy aimed at improving community welfare while advancing cleaner energy adoption.

The First Lady also commended the management and staff of the Home of God’s Grace Orphanage for their dedication to caring for hundreds of children and supporting widows.
“Caring for hundreds of children and supporting widows is no small task, and your efforts do not go unnoticed,” she stated.
She called on other corporate organizations and well-meaning individuals to emulate IOGC’s initiative, stressing that meaningful collaboration between the public and private sectors can drive remarkable transformation in communities.
“As we officially commission this kitchen today, I urge the beneficiaries to make good use of it and ensure its proper maintenance so that it continues to serve generations to come,” she added.
Founder of the Home of God’s Grace Orphanage, Grace Boluwajoko, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Lagos State Government and IOGC for their unwavering support.

She described the new kitchen facility as a life-changing intervention that will significantly ease food preparation processes, reduce health risks associated with smoke inhalation, and improve overall living conditions within the orphanage.
The commissioning ceremony drew key management staff of IOGC, including:
Kayode Anibaba, Chief Operating Officer
Omobolanle Ogungbe-Gogo, Financial Controller; Abisoye Agagu, Commercial Manager; Eguono Soewu, Legal Adviser/Company Secretary; Omowumi Adenuga, People and Culture Manager; Tosin Baruwa, Business Support Manager; Adesoji Salu, Budget and Planning Manager; and Razaq Aremu, Risk & Compliance Manager.

The event underscored the Lagos State Government’s commitment to social welfare and sustainable development, demonstrating how strategic partnerships can positively impact vulnerable populations.
With the LPG-powered kitchen now fully operational, the Home of God’s Grace Orphanage begins a new chapter—one defined by improved health standards, environmental consciousness, and strengthened support for the children and caregivers who call it home.
