
The Christian community in Ikorodu gathered on Thursday, March 5, 2026, for a solemn and spirit-filled wake service in honour of Late Pa. Arotolu Olusesan Israel, who passed on at the age of 80.
The Service of Songs, held at AP Bus Stop axis, Igbodu Gberigbe, Ikorodu, drew family members, friends, church leaders, and well-wishers who came together to celebrate what was described as a fulfilled and impactful life.
The programme commenced with an opening prayer and worship session, followed by Hymn 963.
This set a reflective tone for the evening as officiating ministers led congregants in thanksgiving to God for a life well spent and in submission to His will.

Opening remarks highlighted Pa. Israel’s dedication to his faith, family, and community.
The first Bible reading was taken from 2 Corinthians 5:1–10, reminding attendees of the Christian hope of eternal life, while the second hymn (Hymn 953) reinforced themes of faith and assurance.
The second Bible reading from Revelation 20:11–15 called attention to accountability and the promise of eternal glory.
The exhortation encouraged attendees to live purposefully and remain steadfast in their walk with God.
Special prayers were offered for the family, asking for strength, comfort, and divine guidance in the days ahead.
The wake service featured a lineup of respected ministers who officiated at the event, including Pastor G. O. Obafemi, Pastor F. O. Ajalogun, Pastor Matthew Babajide Ajibeke, Pastor Paul Igonor, Pastor Okafor Precious, Pastor Joseph Oluwasanmi, Pastor Victor Oboli, and Evangelist Peter Stephen.

In a heartfelt tribute, the family described the deceased as an icon whose 80 years of life were marked by gratitude to God and unwavering submission to His will.
Born in 1946, Pa. Arotolu Olusesan Israel’s life journey, from sunrise to sunset in 2026, was celebrated as one of integrity, devotion, and service.
The ceremony concluded with Hymn 969, a vote of thanks from the family, and the benediction, bringing the emotional yet uplifting service to a close.
The burial service is scheduled to hold on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Yomi Ogunsanya Street by AP Bus Stop, Igbodu Gberigbe, Ikorodu, with interment and entertainment to follow immediately at the same venue.
In a heartfelt appreciation message, Mrs. Adeniyi Olufunke, on behalf of the family of the late patriarch, sincerely thanked everyone who stood by them with prayers, condolence calls, generous gifts, and comforting visits throughout their period of bereavement.

She noted that the overwhelming show of love and kindness was a testament to the profound impact Pa. Israel had on the lives of many and acknowledged that such support has brought comfort to the family in this difficult period.
The wake service stood not only as a farewell but as a celebration of a life devoted to faith, family, and community service.
