LASG LIGHTS UP 10 COMMUNITIES IN ISIU AS OMIGO CDA PHASE ONE, OMIGO ONAFONIYIN PHASE TWO RECEIVE NEW TRANSFORMERS ~ INN Nigeria ☆

The Lagos State Government has intensified its rural electrification drive as two brand-new transformers were delivered to Omigo communities in Isiu, Ikorodu Division, bringing long-awaited relief to residents who have endured prolonged power outages.

The transformers were officially delivered on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, under the Rural Electrification Initiative of the Lagos State Government, championed by Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu through the Office of Rural Development led by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje.

The electrification project which include full installation specifically benefits Omigo CDA Phase One and Omigo Onafoniyin Phase Two communities in Isiu, with about ten surrounding communities expected to benefit from the improved power supply facilitated by the installation of the transformers.

Speaking on behalf of the large turnout of residents who gathered to receive the transformers, the General Chairman of the Omigo Joint Community Development Association (CDA), Mr. Adamu Ibrahim, expressed deep appreciation to Governor Sanwo-Olu for responding to the community’s electricity challenges.

According to him, the communities had been battling with severe power failure for nearly two years, a situation that significantly affected economic activities, businesses, and daily living conditions of residents.

He noted that the approval and eventual delivery of the transformers marked a turning point for the communities.

“We are highly grateful to Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for approving these transformers. Our communities have suffered power outages for the past two years, and this intervention has restored hope to our people,” Ibrahim said.

He also commended Dr. Agbaje for his proactive approach in ensuring that the transformers were delivered following a detailed needs assessment conducted after the community submitted its request.

Also speaking, the Principal of Isiu Senior Grammar School, Mrs. Adebunmi Victoria Yemisi, thanked the Lagos State Government for prioritizing rural electrification and improving the learning environment for students.

She stated that the restoration of electricity would significantly support teaching and learning activities in the school and other educational institutions within the benefiting communities.

“On behalf of the management, staff, and students of Isiu Senior Grammar School, we sincerely thank Governor Sanwo-Olu for this rural electrification initiative. It will greatly improve the educational environment for our students,” she said.

The General Secretary of the CDA, Mr. Adekoye Motunrayo Isaac, also applauded the Lagos State Government for its responsiveness to the needs of grassroots communities.

He specifically acknowledged the efforts of Dr. Agbaje in ensuring that the transformer request submitted by the community received prompt attention and eventual approval.

Similarly, the Chairman of Omigo CDA Phase One, Engr. Kayode Idowu, noted that the installation of the transformers would boost socio-economic activities across the benefiting communities.

According to him, the electrification project will positively impact small businesses, artisans, students, and households who rely heavily on stable electricity for productivity and daily living.

In his remarks, Dr. Agbaje reiterated the Lagos State Government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and living standards in rural communities across the state.

He revealed that several rural communities across Lagos have already benefitted from the electrification initiative, adding that many more communities are scheduled to receive similar interventions.

Dr. Agbaje emphasized that the initiative aligns with Governor Sanwo-Olu’s development blueprint for inclusive governance.

“Many rural communities across Lagos State have benefitted from this initiative, and more are set to benefit because the Governor has clear development plans for rural communities,” he stated.

He further explained that the initiative is anchored on the governor’s development framework, the THEMES Plus Agenda, which prioritizes inclusive growth and grassroots development.

“Governor Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES Plus Agenda is all-inclusive, and every grassroots community must feel the dividends of democracy,” Dr. Agbaje added.

Also in attendance at the transformer presentation were Engr. Idowu Kayode, Chairman of Omigo Estate CDA; Pastor Farinde Ademola, Chairman of Harmony Estate CDA; Mr. Tobalase Keke, Chairman of Agbala Keeji CDA; Mr. Rasaki Adebayo Wasiu, Chairman of Marvelous CDA; Mr. S. O. Basiru, Chairman of Promised Land CDA; Mr. Salaudeen Babatunde Taofik, Chairman of Unity Foundation CDA; Mr. Odukoya Grateman, Chairman of Amencing Grace CDA; Apostle Ade Olugujuna, Chairman of Palmfruit CDA; Mr. Eddy Fatuga, Chairman of Olugbade CDA; and Mr. Oduyoye Biodun, Chairman of the Electricity Committee.

The installation of the transformers is expected to significantly improve electricity supply within Omigo communities and surrounding areas in Isiu, thereby enhancing economic activities, education, security, and general quality of life for residents.
