DR AGBAJE CONDUCTS NEEDS ASSESSMENT IN AGA COMMUNITIES OVER ELECTRICITY CHALLENGE, INSPECTS NEW TRANSFORMER FOR IKORODU CLUB AXIS ~ INN Nigeria ☆

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, on Friday, March 13, 2026, embarked on a needs assessment visit to Joko Gbola and Daboyan communities in Aga area of Ikorodu following complaints about persistent electricity challenges in the communities.

The intervention came after a formal complaint by residents, who drew the attention of the Office of Rural Development to the urgent need for a transformer to improve power supply in the affected communities.

During the visit, Dr. Agbaje and his team assessed the situation on ground at Joko Gbola and Daboyan communities, where residents have continued to experience inadequate electricity due to the absence of a functional transformer.

As part of the inspection tour, the Special Adviser also visited the Ikorodu Club/Alhaji Azeez axis to examine a newly delivered transformer, which is expected to be installed soon to enhance electricity supply within the area.

Dr. Agbaje was accompanied by Engr. Oriyomi Hassan from the Technical Department of the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, who joined the assessment team in evaluating the technical requirements necessary for resolving the electricity issues raised by residents.

The needs assessment exercise forms part of the ongoing Rural Electrification Initiative spearheaded by the administration of Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu through the Office of Rural Development.

The initiative is aimed at expanding access to electricity in underserved rural communities across Lagos State.

In recent months, the Office of Rural Development has intensified the distribution of transformers and other power infrastructure to several rural communities, particularly within Ikorodu Division, as part of the state government’s commitment to improving living conditions and stimulating socio-economic development at the grassroots.

Dr. Agbaje reiterated that the Governor’s rural development agenda remains focused on addressing critical infrastructure gaps, including electricity supply, to ensure that residents in rural communities enjoy improved standards of living and sustainable development.
