Residents of Ajido in Badagry Local Government Area have expressed gratitude to the Lagos State Government following the delivery of a new electricity transformer to the community as part of efforts to strengthen power supply in rural areas.

The transformer was delivered on March 14, 2026, through the Lagos State Office of Rural Development under the Rural Electrification Initiative of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, a programme designed to expand electricity infrastructure and improve living conditions in underserved communities across the state.

Chairman of Mitanji Community Development Association (CDA), Mr. Hundeyin Michael Oluwatoyin, commended the governor for approving the intervention, describing the provision of the transformer as a significant relief for residents who have long faced electricity challenges.

He disclosed that the Lagos State Government has also undertaken the responsibility of installing the transformer and ensuring it becomes operational for the benefit of the community.

Oluwatoyin further acknowledged the efforts of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, for facilitating the delivery after officials carried out an assessment to determine the urgent electricity needs of the area.

A former Secretary of the CDA, Mr. Tijiani Nofiu, also lauded the state government, noting that the intervention came at a crucial time when residents were in dire need of improved electricity supply.

He described the gesture as a welcome development that would positively impact daily activities and small businesses within the community.

In the same vein, the Baale of Yenawa Ajido, Chief Saka Padonu, expressed appreciation to the Lagos State Government for responding to the needs of the people.

He assured that the community would continue to support government programmes aimed at improving the welfare of residents.

Speaking during the presentation, Dr. Agbaje reiterated the administration’s commitment to extending development initiatives to grassroots communities.

He praised Governor Sanwo-Olu for prioritizing rural electrification, noting that the distribution of transformers across different communities reflects the practical implementation of the administration’s THEMES Plus Agenda.

According to him, the initiative is part of broader efforts by the Lagos State Government to enhance infrastructure, stimulate local economic activities, and improve the quality of life for residents in rural areas.

The transformer delivery is one of several interventions by the state government aimed at bridging infrastructure gaps and ensuring equitable development across communities in Lagos State.
