ICARE FOUNDATION DISTRIBUTES APO AANU FOOD PACKAGES TO IKORODU RESIDENTS DURING RAMADAN AND LENT ~ INN NIGERIA ∆

On March 14, 2026, the Babajimi Adegoke Benson iCare Foundation carried out the March edition of its Apo Aanu Food Distribution programme, providing food support to residents of Ikorodu during the holy seasons of Ramadan and Lent.

Families and residents across Ikorodu benefitted from the initiative, as the foundation once again extended assistance to members of the community through the sharing of food items.

The programme formed part of the foundation’s ongoing welfare efforts aimed at supporting households and ensuring that vulnerable members of society receive relief, particularly during significant religious periods.

The outreach was organized by the foundation of Babajimi Adegoke Benson, Member representing the Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

The programme was specifically aimed at supporting families during the Ramadan and Lenten seasons while promoting the values of compassion, generosity, and service to humanity within the community.

Residents from different communities across Ikorodu gathered to benefit from the distribution, which was carried out in an orderly and well-coordinated manner.

Beneficiaries received food packages through a structured process designed to ensure fairness and consideration for all participants.

The presence of Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson at the programme brought additional excitement and joy to the community, as many residents acknowledged his continuous support and consistent presence in initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of the people.

Several leaders and dignitaries were also present at the event, Among them were Nurudeen Saka Solaja, former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Ikorodu Constituency II; Sunday Ayodele Benson, Chairman of Imota Local Council Development Area; Bose Benson, Council Leader of Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area; and Mrs. Wonuola Oshinowo, Senatorial Woman Leader.

Their presence further demonstrated the level of support and recognition the programme continues to receive within the community.

Beneficiaries drawn from different parts of Ikorodu expressed appreciation for the initiative, highlighting the positive impact of the programme on families and households within the community.

One of the beneficiaries, Sanusi Faruq from Ward C4 in Igbogbo-Baiyeku Local Council Development Area, who participated in the programme for the first time, shared his experience and appreciation for the initiative.

According to him, the organization of the distribution process was impressive and well thought out, making participation easy and less stressful for beneficiaries.

“I feel impressed considering the fact that it was what I met physically, not just what I heard about.

The arrangement was okay and less stressful, I also love the fact that adults and people with disabilities were duly considered during the sharing,” he said.

Faruq further noted that welfare initiatives such as the Apo Aanu programme play an important role in supporting communities, particularly in view of the current economic realities affecting many households across the country.

He explained that programmes like this help to reduce hardship and provide relief to families in need.

He also used the opportunity to encourage residents to contribute positively to community development, especially by keeping their environment clean and maintaining a healthy living space within their neighbourhoods.

Another beneficiary, Ms. Damilola Anjorin, a special needs participant, expressed appreciation to Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson for including persons with disabilities in the monthly welfare distribution package.

She noted that the gesture showed consideration and care for vulnerable members of the community and urged the lawmaker to continue his good work in supporting residents.

Similarly, another first-time beneficiary, Adesina Fatai, expressed gratitude to the lawmaker for the initiative.

He described the gesture as timely and impactful, noting that the distribution of food items brought relief and joy to many families within the community.

Fatai also commended Hon. Babajimi Benson for his continued efforts towards community development in Ikorodu.

He encouraged the lawmaker to sustain the programme, noting that the Apo Aanu food distribution initiative continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of many residents across the constituency.
