PRINCE ABIODUN OGUNLEYE COMMISSIONS AGRIC ULTRA-MODERN MOTOR PARK IN IKORODU WEST ~ INN Nigeria ☆

IKORODU, LAGOS — Former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, on Saturday the 21st of March 2026 officially commissioned the Agric/Owutu Ultra-Modern Motor Park in Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), describing the facility as a transformative project set to improve transportation, commerce, and public safety for residents.

The Agric Ultra-Modern Motor Park, named the Renewed Hope Agenda International Motor Park, is designed in alignment with the visionary leadership of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In his address, Ogunleye expressed gratitude to God and lauded the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for his commitment to infrastructure development, healthcare, education, and youth empowerment across the state.

He noted that prior to the project, the Agric axis faced significant challenges, including traffic congestion, chaotic roadside trading, and unsafe parking practices that endangered commuters.

“Previously, we faced numerous challenges in our transportation system. The absence of a well-designed motor park contributed to traffic congestion and chaotic parking, causing undue stress for commuters and residents,” Ogunleye said.

The former deputy governor emphasized that the new facility is more than just a structure—it represents a vision of an organized, efficient, and secure transportation hub for Ikorodu West residents.

“Today, we transform that vision into reality,” he added.

The Agric Ultra-Modern Motor Park features sheltered waiting areas, comfortable seating, and designated spaces for commercial activities, including trading, vehicle maintenance, and other business operations.

Ogunleye further highlighted that the facility will create employment opportunities for park attendants, traders, and food vendors, while also reducing traffic congestion and improving accessibility within the community.

“This park is your community’s asset. Its lasting success depends on your commitment. I urge transport unions, market men, and women to maintain order and cleanliness.”

“Each driver and attendant should take pride in using the facilities appropriately. Residents must protect this investment and report any acts of vandalism,” Ogunleye stressed.

The Chairman of Ikorodu West LCDA, Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem Olarewaju, explained that the facility was conceived during his first term to reduce traffic congestion and prevent accidents at the busy Agric Bus Stop.

“During my second term, we took concrete steps to set aside and develop space for this structured motor park, which will enhance safety, accessibility, and the overall urban landscape of Ikorodu West,” he said.

Speaking on behalf of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) State Chairman, Alhaji Samsondeen Adepeju Ajala, the Deputy Chairman, Alhaji Sulaimon Olubanjo, described the park as a historic achievement, noting that it is the first modern motor park developed by the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria in Lagos State.

He also commended the development strides of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and pledged the association’s support for his re-election in 2027.

The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, was also in attendance.

In his remarks to media practitioners, Dr. Agbaje praised the collaborative effort between the government, transport unions, and the community.

“This project is a model of sustainable urban planning. It not only provides safe and orderly spaces for transportation and commerce but also demonstrates how strategic infrastructure investments can directly improve livelihoods, reduce road accidents, and enhance economic activity in local communities,” he said.

He further urged residents and stakeholders to embrace the facility responsibly, emphasizing that community engagement is vital to its long-term success.

The commissioning ceremony attracted a large audience, including former Chairman of Ikorodu West LCDA, Princess Olajumoke Ademehin; Mrs. Folashade Sulaimon, wife of the council chairman; Hon. Jessica Oba, Leader of the Legislative Chamber; Hon. Bayo Lawson, APC Party Leader in Ikorodu West LCDA; Mr. Tiamiyu; Mr. Taiwo Lasisi; as well as representatives from the National Union of Road Transport Workers and the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria.

The Agric Ultra-Modern Motor Park is expected to serve as a benchmark for other LCDA transport hubs across Lagos State, reinforcing the importance of collaborative governance, strategic infrastructure planning, and community participation in urban development.
