Mrs. Adeyemi Ganiat, popularly known as “Olodo,” has shared her remarkable journey from humble beginnings to becoming a successful businesswoman and proud landlady in the Odonla axis of Ikorodu North LCDA, in a powerful testament to resilience and determination.
Speaking during an interview session conducted by Prince Ganny Awobajo, Chief Editor of Ikorodu News, on April 1, 2026, Mrs. Adeyemi recounted her early struggles, which began in Abeokuta before her eventual relocation to Lagos in search of better opportunities.
With only a Grade 2 education, she revealed how her limited formal schooling earned her the nickname “Olodo,” a term often used to describe someone with little or no education.
However, rather than allowing the label to define or discourage her, she turned it into a source of motivation.
“I started from nothing,” she explained. “I sold fish, moved on to selling pepper, and later began selling nylon. It wasn’t easy, but I remained focused and disciplined.”
Highlighting a key turning point in her journey, Mrs. Adeyemi noted that while some of her business associates spent their earnings on luxury items and material possessions, she chose a different path.
Rather than indulging in extravagant spending, she remained committed to saving and planning for the future. This disciplined approach to finances, she said, ultimately positioned her to invest in property and secure long-term stability.
Her story is marked by consistent hard work, perseverance, and a strong commitment to financial discipline.
Through careful savings and gradual reinvestment, Mrs. Adeyemi was able to build a growing and thriving business, establishing herself as a notable entrepreneur within her community.
Today, she stands as a proud landlord in Ikorodu, a milestone she describes as a “blessing in disguise,” despite the odds stacked against her due to her educational background.
Mrs. Adeyemi’s journey serves as an inspiration to many, especially young entrepreneurs and women in grassroots communities, proving that success is achievable through diligence, resilience, and prudent financial management, regardless of one’s academic limitations.
The full interview session will be published in Ikorodu Newspaper for public readership, offering deeper insights into her life story, struggles, and path to success.
