In a continued demonstration of his commitment to youth empowerment and equitable access to opportunities, the lawmaker representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, Babajimi Benson, on Thursday, April 2, 2026, presented letters of employment to 22 youths from Ikorodu Federal Constituency who secured positions in various Federal Government agencies through his facilitation.
The presentation ceremony, held at his constituency office in Ikorodu, reflected a structured and transparent selection process that emphasised merit, fairness, and inclusivity.
Of the 22 beneficiaries, 20 emerged through the https://icarejobs.ng platform—an initiative of the Jimi Benson iCare Foundation, designed to create a database of qualified youths within the constituency for job-matching opportunities as they arise.
The platform has continued to serve as a credible channel for connecting job seekers with employment prospects facilitated through strategic engagements.

The remaining two beneficiaries were selected from a pool of five youths who were randomly chosen during the October 19, 2025, edition of the Apo Aanu Food Distribution programme, in a surprise gesture that underscored a commitment to inclusivity and spontaneous empowerment.
The beneficiaries, drawn from diverse academic and professional backgrounds, have now been placed across different Federal Government agencies, marking a significant milestone in their career journeys.
A key highlight of the exercise was the strong representation of female beneficiaries, reflecting deliberate efforts to promote gender inclusion and provide equitable access to opportunities for women within the constituency.
Equally noteworthy was the absence of indigeneship considerations in the selection process.
Beneficiaries were chosen based on their connection to Ikorodu Federal Constituency rather than ancestral origin, reinforcing a broader and more inclusive definition of community representation.
Speaking during the presentation, Rep. Benson attributed the employment opportunities to the Renewed Hope agenda of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that his role was to facilitate access for constituents.
“I am not the one giving these jobs,” he stated. “These opportunities are a product of the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who has made a firm commitment to expanding opportunities for young Nigerians.

What we are doing is ensuring that our people are not left behind in accessing these opportunities.”
In his remarks, the Director-General of the Jimi Benson iCare Foundation, Mayor Deen Sanwoola, commended the transparency of the process, emphasising that all successful beneficiaries went through the same application channel.
He noted that the integrity of the icarejob platform ensured that no beneficiary could attribute their selection to personal patronage, describing the outcome as a testament to a system that rewards merit.
The beneficiaries, in their responses, expressed appreciation to President Tinubu and Rep. Benson for the opportunity, while pledging to uphold the values of diligence, professionalism, and service to the nation in their respective roles.
The ceremony was attended by notable stakeholders, including Azeezat Apanisile, whose presence added significance to the occasion.
Observers have described the initiative as a model for effective representation, demonstrating how transparent systems and strategic facilitation can bridge the gap between government opportunities and constituents.
One of the beneficiaries, Adeseun Olalekan, a graduate of Olabisi Onabanjo University who studied Agricultural Science, expressed gratitude and excitement over the opportunity.
“I feel excited, I feel overwhelmed because I wasn’t expecting it. In fact, I thought it was a joke when I first heard about the opportunity. But when I got the letter, I was so excited and even perplexed,” he said.

He added that the opportunity would positively impact his career and allow him to apply his skills for the benefit of society and the nation at large.
“This is what I’ve been expecting—to exercise my skills and the knowledge I’ve gathered to benefit society and Nigeria at large,” he noted.
Olalekan also appreciated the efforts of the President and Rep. Benson for prioritizing youth development.
“I want to thank the President. I wasn’t expecting this, but I am overwhelmed to see things working out for good, especially having the youth at heart. I also thank Honorable Babajimi Benson. He is a good father to us and has been working tirelessly for the youth and the Ikorodu community,” he added.
Another beneficiary, Sule Abibat Motunrayo, a Business Education student of Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, also shared her joy and appreciation.
“I feel very, very happy. I pray that God will continue to assist them in whatever they do. I hope this continues, so that the children of the unknown will be raised and become known, in line with the Renew Hope vision,” she said.
She further expressed optimism about her future and her desire to be part of the iCARE Foundation.
“I hope to see myself in a higher place and to become a member of the iCARE Foundation soon. I pray that all of us here will continue to grow and not remain the same,” she added.
The initiative highlights a continued commitment to youth empowerment, transparency, and inclusive growth within Ikorodu Division, as efforts intensify to bridge the gap between education and employment.
