BENSON COMMISSIONS MODERN CLASSROOM BLOCKS IN IKORODU WEST, IKORODU NORTH, REINFORCES COMMITMENT TO EDUCATION ~ INN ∆

Lawmaker representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Babajimi Benson, on Tuesday, April 8, 2026, facilitated and commissioned blocks of modern classrooms in two public junior secondary schools across Ikorodu West LCDA and Ikorodu North LCDA.

The twin commissioning events, carried out on his behalf by members of the iCare Foundation, underscored a strategic investment in the future of young learners across Ikorodu Federal Constituency.

The first port of call was Isawo Junior High School in Ikorodu West LCDA, where a block of six fully equipped classrooms was officially commissioned.

Representing the lawmaker at the event was the Director-General of the iCare Foundation, Mayor Deen Sanwoola, alongside other members of the Foundation.

In an emotional moment that added deeper significance to the occasion, the Principal of the school, Mrs. Ladega Abiola Rukayat, expressed profound joy as the commissioning coincided with her retirement from active service.

She commended Rep. Benson for his unwavering commitment to education and described the project as a fitting parting gift to the school and its community.

Delivery the address of the Host Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju chairman ikorodu west lcda, FCA, FCTI, the Secretary to the Local Government, Alhaja Ajibike Rukayat Salau, described the project as more than just a physical structure.

“Today, we are not just commissioning a building; we are opening a portal to the future,” she stated, emphasizing that education remains the most effective investment against poverty, crime, and social decay.

She noted that the project aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, adding that modern facilities such as the newly constructed classrooms are essential for preparing students to compete in a rapidly evolving global environment.

The facility, she highlighted, features ventilated and spacious classrooms, as well as sanitary facilities that meet high health standards, creating a conducive learning environment for students.

The event witnessed the presence of key stakeholders including Alhaji Taiwo Odumbo, Executive Secretary of the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), Ikorodu; Mr. Awokunle, Principal of Isawo Senior Comprehensive School; Mr. Obasan Adedoyin, the first pioneer Principal of Isawo Junior High School; Princess Loveth Talabi, representing the Parents-Teachers Forum; leadership of various Community Development Associations (CDAs); and Ms. Oluwatoyin Aroyewun of the Ikorodu LGEA.

Speaking on behalf of the students, the Head Girl, Miss Ogunbowale Azeezat, expressed heartfelt appreciation to Rep. Benson, offering prayers for his continued success and impact.

Also speaking, Master Okotie Prince, a JS2 student, thanked the lawmaker while passionately appealing for intervention in the construction of access roads to the community, noting that poor road conditions often hinder students’ attendance during the rainy season.

Community representatives, including Ola Inu Kan CDA, expressed gratitude and called for further infrastructural support, particularly road development, while presenting a commemorative roll-up banner to the lawmaker.

The Parents’ Forum also presented a framed gift in appreciation of the intervention.

The second commissioning took place at Gbaga Community Junior High School, Olorunda, in Ikorodu North LCDA, where another block of six classrooms was unveiled to serve multiple communities within the ward.

The event attracted a large turnout of stakeholders, including the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, Mayor Ola Ameen Apanishile, and his Vice, Hon. Matthew Adesanya, alongside councilors, supervisors, traditional rulers, and community leaders.

Also present were High Chief Adeniyi Onabanjo, the Baale of Ayetoro, and High Chief Ayotunde Olubowale Phillips, the Baale Ogunakin, the host traditional ruler.

The Supervisor for Education, Hon. Abimbola Adaramola, described the project as a milestone achievement in the council’s educational development efforts.

She commended Rep. Benson for his purposeful leadership and dedication to human capital development, noting that the modern classroom structure would significantly enhance the teaching and learning experience.

She also acknowledged the leadership of the Council Chairman, Mayor Apanishile, whose administration she said has continued to prioritise infrastructural and educational growth across the LCDA.

Speaking at the event, Mayor Apanishile expressed deep appreciation to Rep. Benson for his numerous interventions in Ikorodu North LCDA, urging residents to reciprocate such efforts through continued support and civic participation, especially in the coming general elections.

He also outlined ongoing and future development plans across healthcare, education, and youth and women empowerment sectors, describing Rep. Benson as a mentor and leader.

Representing the lawmaker at this location were members of the iCare Foundation led by Mrs. Olabisi Odumbo, Leader of the Women Wing of the Foundation, while Ms. Oluwatoyin Aroyewun also represented the Executive Secretary of Ikorodu LGEA.

The Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA’s Community Development Committee (CDC), Prince Adeniran Ogunbanwo, called on residents to continue supporting and praying for the lawmaker, noting that effective representation deserves collective backing.

In his remarks, the host Baale, High Chief Ayotunde Olubowale Phillips, offered prayers for Rep. Benson, commending his consistent contributions to community development.

The school committee also presented a framed gift to the lawmaker in appreciation of the project.

Both classroom blocks commissioned at Isawo Junior High School and Gbaga Community Junior High School were delivered with modern features, including staff rooms, electrical fittings, ceiling fans, contemporary furniture, and smart boards, aligning with global standards for 21st-century education.

Observers have described the dual commissioning as a significant stride in improving access to quality education across Ikorodu Division, noting that such interventions not only enhance learning conditions but also contribute to long-term societal development.
