e83833hb5439357592104814399 Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu attended the commemoration of the completion of the construction of the Lekki Deep-sea port.
According to the Governor, "It is indeed heartwarming to have one of the most modern Deep-Sea Ports in the world, here in our Lagos State. We are very proud to not only be the host of this engineering wonder, but also to be an investor in it, alongside Lekki Port LFTZ Enterprise Limited (LPLEL), and the Federal Government of Nigeria.
"This is a landmark day for Lekki Port LFTZ Enterprise Limited (LPLEL), comprising China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd. and Tolaram Group; and for the Lagos State Government, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), and the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) as a whole."
"The benefits for Lagos State are tremendous – 200,000 direct and indirect jobs will be created, in addition to tens of billions of dollars in taxes and revenues. The new Port will position Lagos as the new maritime logistics hub of West and Central Africa, while also positioning Nigeria to attain the full economic leadership potential that the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) represents.
"I want to use this opportunity to assure the private players in this project, investors, intending investors, communities and residents, of the commitment of the Lagos State Government to the development of the road infrastructure serving the new port."
"We are collaborating closely with the Federal Government, to ensure that between us both, every access road to this Port will get the required attention in full. We have the example of the Apapa Port to learn from, we will NOT allow this area to become another byword for traffic gridlock and commuter frustration.
"I, therefore, ask for your patience and cooperation, even as we work to upgrade the transport and ancillary infrastructure, to keep up with the pace of development. See these investors as partners for progress and development, and creators of the jobs and prosperity that will transform your lives and communities."

393oj3n3nn3808216265942985608 As the ember month comes in full swing to wind up the year 2022, road users have been urged to do everything necessary in keeping the road safe and secure during the festive period.
Aimed at enhancing road regulatory policies to reduce heavy traffic and also prevent casualties on the road, the Federal Road Safety Corps staged an awareness program at Sabo Park on the 26th of October 2022.
Themed 'Avoid overspeeding, overloading and unsafe tyres to arrive alive', the agency flagged off its ember month safety campaign, reminding motorists and commuters to stay careful on the road.
Playing host to HRM, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, Ayangburen of Ikorodu kingdom, Ably represented by High Chief Awolesi Salu and Otunba Ayodele Elesho, Delegates from Ikorodu local government council, Delegates from LASTMA, Corps zonal commanding officer, commander Olusegun Ogungbamide, the Deputy corps commander, Lucas Oguntade, CSP Kunle Omisakin, DPO Sagamu road and Lt. Col. E.O Sholotan, commanding officer 174 battalion Nigeria Army Ikorodu, the program sounded the alarm on the need to adhere to safety policies.
Welcoming guests to the ember campaign event, deputy commander, Lucas Oguntade intimated everyone with the essence of the gathering, drawing attention from all to the present statistics of road usage and systems.
In all, he made it apparent that it takes cooperation from both road users and the agency to create a conducive road usage network which will aid a better configuration system for Lagos state in general. Commander Olusegun Ogungbamide in his remarks cited that it is not how long an individual has been driving, but how careful they're on the road that matters. According to him, "You can display all your expertise here on earth alone, but it is not relevant in heaven, following the regulations of the federal road safety corps secures our road from accidents".
He continued, "This year alone we've recorded 74 deaths in Lagos State, 230 injured due to accidents on the road. And am sure everyone saw the news of the tanker explosion at Shagamu that claimed 10 lives some days ago". "Indeed, Good road prevents accidents but bad road increases them, but one thing is certain, we've ascertained that 50% of the accident occurred at night". "Knowing fully well that the Lagos State government is working overtime to improve our road standards and networks, we must apply preventive measures on our own to avoid casualties" Commander Olusegun added. Otunba Ayodele Elesho, speaking in the capacity of HRM, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, Ayangburen of Ikorodu kingdom, cautioned road users that for everyone life that dies on the road, about four families are affected. "If a vehicle must be road worthy then the road must be worthy of the vehicles".
Otunba Elesho further stated that if 90 per cent of a road marshal's job is to serve the people, then the agency must step up its game to aid better performance.
"Even now that the agencies can generate revenue it means they must upgrade their functions in strategic measures on regular basis". "While we're looking at the improvement from the side of the agency, as road users, we must also adhere to the rules and regulations of the road marshals if we want to stay safe too" Otunba Elesho urges motorists and commuters in closing.

LAGOS TO SANCTION ERRING ILERA EKO PROVIDERS, PLEDGES QUALITY HEALTHCARE ®™√ INN Nigeria ©

grassroots residents on ilera eko 698x4302355216236514140150 1 The Lagos State Government has said that it would not hesitate to sanction any of the ILERA EKO healthcare providers that run foul of the existing healthcare practices and standards. The General Manager, Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA), Dr. Emmanuella Zamba, disclosed this recently at Alausa, Ikeja, adding that the Agency has been inundated with complaints received from enrollees on healthcare providers. She stated that Lagos is doing its best to ensure that affordable and quality healthcare is provided to residents of the State, saying “We cannot fold our arms and allow some providers to destroy the good intention of the State Government and its determination to achieve the Universal Health Coverage (UHC)”.
Dr. Zamba noted that the complaints received from enrollees include hospitals not giving drugs, not admitting patients, not carrying out tests and collecting money from patients on some of the drugs or tests covered among others, adding that the Agency would not hesitate to deal decisively with any hospital giving the State Government a bad name or any hospital whose staff treat ILERA EKO enrollees with levity. She, however, commended some service providers for performing creditably well and taking care of ILERA EKO enrollees even beyond and above expectations, declaring that the Agency would ensure that quality healthcare is provided for all Lagos residents as healthy individuals would be more productive and contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of the State.
While pointing out that not all medical conditions are covered by ILERA EKO, the General Manager warned that no enrollee should pay for the treatment/test covered under the scheme including consultation, laboratory tests, minor surgeries and admissions for 15 days in a year.
Dr. Zamba reiterated that the new National Health Insurance Act (NHIA) signed by President Muhammadu Buhari in May 2022 has made health insurance mandatory for all Nigerians, appealing to Lagos residents yet to enrol on the health plan to do so without further delay in adherence to the law and to reduce their out-of-pocket payment for medical bills.
The General Manager said that intending enrollees can register either at the LASHMA Head Office situated at No 17, Kafi Street, Alausa or at any of the LASHMA five IBILE offices covering Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lagos and Epe Divisions or ILERA EKO kiosks located in all the LGAs/LCDAs in the State.
She added that Lagos residents can also enrol through the ILERA EKO customer app by dialling 6700006# on their phones or visiting the Agency’s website via www.ileraeko.com, assuring that the registration and enrolment process is seamless and does not take much time.
Zamba revealed, however, that despite the recent complaints by a hand full of enrollees, a lot of people have benefitted from the health insurance plan and several testimonies, as well as commendations, have been received by LASHMA. The General Manager said that to date, about 623,000 Lagos residents have already registered on the ILERA EKO Health Insurance Plan, covering 250 Public and Private Hospitals, under the Lagos State Health Scheme (LSHS).

The Lagos State Government has said that it would not hesitate to sanction any of the ILERA EKO healthcare providers that run foul of the existing healthcare practices and standards. The General Manager, Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA), Dr. Emmanuella Zamba,
