88888866665553000115745424220176 Ikorodu Local Government chairman, Hon. Wasiu Adesina hosted stakeholders and members of the general public to the year 2023 Budget Consultative forum at the Council Hall on the 1st of December 2023.
The forum, with the theme; An Effective Budget Formulation, created an interactive session for the council, aiding it's administrative wing mediums to ascertain areas of adjustments and figurative modifications.
From the jump (through a projector presentation), Mr. Kazeem Adesanya, HOD on budget, enlightened the attendees on the benefits of annual budget, through the analysis of projector to elaborating reasons taxes must be paid for the council to fulfil its numerous obligations.
The presentation gave participants the avenue to suggest other ways the council can create employment, engage the youths and provide more empowerment and training hubs.
In his official address, Hon. Wasiu Adesina reviewed various projects embarked upon by his administration through the 2022 Budget Year.
The review, which has documented a 96% completion in all sectors of Ikorodu Local government, Included Welfare packages for Teachers, programs for students and various ongoing infrastructural development projects in Ikorodu.
Adesina, also explained that his administration has consistently boosted the IGR of the Local Government from 20 million naira to 120 million naira without obtaining Loans or debts.
"We're able to accelerate the council's productivity through proper planning and strategy formulation by the Adesina Led administration" he said.
Stakeholders in attendance, who acknowledged the council's challenges examined, lauded the Chairman for his relentless efforts on the development of Ikorodu Local Government.
The council boss, further called on citizen to support his administration through prompt payment of taxes, and due proceeds to enable the government serve the people with dividends of democracy.
"Despite our managing allocations, most projects were carried out successfully on roads and construction works which has enhance growth. I want to appreciate the good people of Ikorodu local government for their unwavering support, and also the contributions of all stakeholders, their steadfast encouragement and backing of this administration" Adesina concluded.
Political stakeholders, Legislative arm of Ikorodu LG, Supervisors and Senior Special Assistants, Traditional chiefs, Head of Security agencies, Youth Representatives, Artisans, Market Leaders, and members of the Public were present at the forum.

8382u3jj3je38489695758632539356 The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has charged committees of the House to ensure a proper screening of the 2023 budget of the State so as to close the gap between the estimated figure and revenue generated.
Dr. Obasa spoke on Sunday during his remarks at a 3-day budget retreat tagged 'Consolidating the gains of the current administration in Lagos State in a transition year: prospects, opportunities and recommendations' organised for lawmakers and staff of the Lagos Assembly.
Commending the lawmakers for their passion to ensure a greater Lagos, Obasa tasked the committees to constantly be steps ahead so their members could ask ministries, departments and agencies the right questions during budget defence and oversight.
"All over the world, the economy has been bad and affects whether a budget would be surplus or deficit. Here in Lagos, we have our own challenge.
"So bridging the gap between the budget size and revenue is what the House of Assembly should do. When the executive arm determines the cost of projects, the committees should be able to check for the value of such projects.
"I am sure everyone recognises what we have been doing in Lagos and I urge you to continue so that you can always be appreciated," he urged the lawmakers.
Earlier welcoming participants to the retreat, which ended on Sunday, the Clerk of the House, Barr. Olalekan Onafeko, it was an opportunity for the members of the Assembly to familiarise themselves with the breakdown of the 2023 budget "in order to ensure effective continuity in budgetary guidance from lawmakers to Lagosians."
Ibitel Consutoh collaborated with the Assembly to organise the retreat, and said it would help the Initials to reflect deeply on the ₦1.692 trillion 2023 budget recently presented by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
"The objective is to reflect on the 2023 budget as presented by the Governor with a view to getting a direction," John Mutu, representative of the organisation said.
He added that to get lawmakers effectively do a post mortem of the 2022 budget and identify other priorities of the State that can be accommodated in the post-mortem
The retreat ends on Sunday, November 14, 2022.

With HRMs, Adeboruwa and Olubeshe in council, CDA/CDC excos, Artisans, Market association, CAN Igbogbo Baiyeku, Muslim Society, Isokan Ladies and transport union present at the council's secretariat hall, the stakeholder's forum disclose the allegiance of Bldr Daini's oversight to propel communities through formal budget processing. From Road construction, Health Care Centres, Security Enhancement, Improving Education standards and more, the meeting touched on all corners, giving stakeholders room to pinpoint pending axis that requires government attention.
In his welcome address, Mr Arowosegbe J.O, Head of Budget, stated that the essence of the meeting is to deliberate on the Year 2023 Budget.
According to him, the budget preparation cannot be done in isolation without collecting the community inputs.
Noting that budget is sharing & all-inclusive, Arowosegbe elucidated that neighbourhood inputs are very germane in budget practice.
In conclusion he asserted that the LCDA encompass people at the grassroot, deeming it fit to invite stakeholders, so they can be basis of the process, adding that the current year's budget has performed up to 70% based on evaluation".
Stakeholders, however, at the meeting (in summary) called for the council to pay more attention to internal road constructions, narrowing on Abule Osorun road, Mojoda road and Abuja road, persuading the council boss to amplify his strategy to security.
On his part, underscoring roads that the council has picked for soft road construction and drainages, the council boss described his teamwork with the public works to execute detailed undertakings.
More on the road, Daini explained that minor road palliative work will be done while presenting a crucial portions to the Lagos State government.
"The significance of the road to our economic value, especially those closer to the coastal part of the region cannot be overemphasized".
Daini subsequently strode to the safety sector, asserting, "In the area of security, we as a people do not follow the slogan, 'if you see something say something. I said so because most of the security challenges we face in some communities are not reported".
On security enhancement, He affirmed that in Elepe community, 6 plots of land have been allocated to the council for construction of a police station, saying that his council alongside Senator Tokunbo Abiru and the LASG is working towards actualising the project which will also include structuring of a Mini barracks within the edifice.
Declaring that more JTF will be dispatched to areas with tension, he implored the NYCN Igbogbo branch to come up with strategic measures for the council to engage youths causing restlessness in some communities.
To further stimulate business in the community on transactions, Bldr Daini announced to stakeholders that a bank is coming to establish itself in Igbogbo Baiyeku soon.
The council boss summarised some of the projects to be embarked upon by the council across wards, which include; Primary Health Care refurbishment, soft palliative road constructions, drainages, water supply, and school modification i.e distributing tables and chairs to the 12 public schools across the LCDA.
Assuring that no community will be left behind in the implementation of projects, Daini asserted that the 2023 budget will broaden the scope of the council which is the main reason the consultative stakeholder's forum is organised. Advising residents to continuously assist revenue officers in paying their taxes, He credited dwellers for the progressive boost in revenue collection by the council.
In conclusion, the council boss applauded councillor Akeem Solawon for writing the ministry of local government, which elicited the state's approval for the construction of a health centre in Agunfoye community.
Others in attendance include; Former council chairman, Gbenga Onasanya, Hon. Okedina-Maja Nuraini, Special persons (physically challenged), Hon. MKO Arowolo, Princess Basirat Adetutu Banjoko and others.

383henen7E22651125039466668917. The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adesina, Tuesday, 14th of June, signed the 2022 Appropriation Bill of the Council into law.
This pursued the agreement and presentation of the Bill by the Ikorodu Legislative committee to the Council Chairman (in the presence of his Vice-chairman, SLG, council-manager, clerk of the house, budget manager and other council delegates) at the Chairman's conference room in the secretariat.
Presenting the Bill to the Council Chairman, Leader of the house, Ikorodu 6th Legislative council, Hon. Adebowale Adebola stated that the Councillors worked round the horologe in ensuring that the Bill received a brisk progression.
He commented that indeed the people of Ikorodu LGA were delighted with the prompt tempo Adesina was delivering his projects, adding that delaying the passage of the budget (by the legislative chamber) would be a disservice to the good people of Ikorodu.
Before signing the Bill, (Hon. Wasiu Adesina) the Council Chairman appreciated the leadership and members of the 6th Legislative council for the spirited path of the Bill, ensuring that the budget would be executed to the missive.
While also commending his oversight executives for their continued cooperation and support to the growth of the council, the Chairman asserted that his government will keep enhancing its capacity to meet the needs of residents in Ikorodu local government.
He continued, "Ward projects are bestowed based on a needs assessment of the people at the grassroots, as well as on feasibility of the proposed project with regards to budget provision"
"This administration will continue to work in synergy with the Legislative Arm, to ensure that Ikorodu LGA continues to develop and grow from strength to strength" Adesina surmised
He further buttressed the ongoing involvement of the Lagos state government on the Agura-gberigbe road structure, applauding Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for deeming it fit to extend the road edifice towards the province.
Adesina, who also seized the medium to present a utility mobile vehicle to the head of the council's revenue department affirmed that his goal is to ensure all sectors are in top-notch performance to realise maximum productivity, augmenting that two more vehicles would be presented to the department in the latter part of the year.
The budget summary revealed that the appropriation bill is the sum of One Billion, Nine Hundred and Forty-Nine Million, Sixty-Five Thousand, Eight Hundred and Forty-Nine Naira Eighty Kobo (N1,949,065,849.80) only is approved as the Year 2022 Budget.
Income estimate from value-added tax (VAT) is One Billion, Two Hundred and Twenty-Seven Million, Eight Hundred and Sixty-Two Thousand, One Hundred and Sixty-Two Naira and Eighteen Kobo (N1,227,862,162.18) only has been approved.
Twenty-Six Million Naira (26,000,000) only has been approved as an income estimate from State Coordinated Revenue 2022.
The sum of One Hundred and Five Million Naira (105,000,000) only has been approved as an income estimate from Ikorodu Local Government Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) for the Financial year 2022. One Hundred and Seventy Million, Fifty-Six Thousand, Two Hundred and Twenty-Eight Naira and Seven Kobo (170,056,228.07) only has been approved as Expected Loan from Bank, While estimated recurrent expenditure is One Billion, Three Hundred and Twenty-Nine Million, Thirty-One Hundred Thousand, Eight Hundred and Seventy-Six Naira and Forty-Nine Kobo (1,329,031,876.49).
