fb img 16790327459752148435642221063956 Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu's re-election bid received a major boost on Wednesday as former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Dr Ade Dosunmu and Labour Party's Lagos Central Senatorial candidate on February 25 National Assembly poll, Chief Adesunbo Onitiri dumped their parties to work for the Governor's re-election.
Dosunmu and Onitiri, who defected to APC with thousands of their supporters and members across Lagos State, declared their intentions to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and work for the party during Saturday's governorship and House of Assembly elections.
They made the declarations on Wednesday during a meeting with Governor Sanwo-Olu and APC leaders at Lagos House, Marina.
Governor Sanwo-Olu also received chairmen of 13 political parties, who are members of the Conference of Political Parties (CPP) as well as members of the Eyo Alakete Pupa Ikolaba Ekun led by Prince Uthman Sodipe-Dosunmu. They all pledged their support towards the re-election bid of the Governor. Speaking during the event, the defectors said they have seen what Sanwo-Olu had achieved in the last four years and decided to align with his government.
Dosunmu, who defected to APC with members of the Lagos State PDP as well as House of Representatives and House of Assembly candidates of the party, said their endorsement of Sanwo-Olu for re-election was in the interest of Lagos State.
In his declaration speech, Dosunmu said their decision to join APC was based on the dynamic leadership of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the manner with which the incumbent Governor Sanwo-Olu has been piloting the affairs of Lagos State since he assumed office about four years ago.
He said: "Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is a man of exceptional dynamism, a listener, and a good crisis manager. I must state that his inspiring personal style of leadership is equally deserving of my humble commendation. The steady and self-assured way he has been piloting the affairs of Lagos State cutting across every sector with characteristic skills and sobriety is commendable. His great exploits in the areas of infrastructure development, youth empowerment, education, health, direct foreign investment, and transportation (rail and land transportation) among others are enormous.
"I want to urge all members of the APC in Lagos State to see this current political realignment as a unique opportunity for greater mobilisation, consolidation, and breaking of new grounds in the build-up to the Governorship and State Assembly elections. A vote for Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is a vote for strong collaboration with the Federal Government of Nigeria under the able leadership of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This will no doubt bring unprecedented development to Lagos State and enhance the quality of life of its resident.
"My teaming supporters and I will spare no effort to work for wider acceptability and electoral victory for the APC - our new party, in Lagos State come March 18, 2023."
Also speaking, Onitiri, the Chairman of the Elders Committee of the Labour Party, said Governor Sanwo-Olu is the most competent and most qualified among all the gubernatorial candidates.
He said: "We are here with our members to join hands with our able brother, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to ensure that he has a second term by the grace of God. We are prepared to work with you because we know you are a tested and trusted hand. "You are the most competent and most qualified. We have seen what you have done in the last four years. We are here to endorse you as a governor for the second term. Lagos State Prominent Indigenes are with you. We will campaign and vote for you."
Governor Sanwo-Olu while receiving the defectors said the APC had the ambience of togetherness to accommodate all of them.
He commended all the defectors and assured them that he will not disappoint them for supporting his re-election.

5566trfdddddd7E27401415529985932713. With a coalition of 114 youth base, which amounts to 100,000 youths in Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA, the Executive Chairman, Bldr Sesan Daini, on the 15th of March 2023, hosted youthful people for political reasons at the council's secretariat.
The youth meeting, which doubled as an interactive section, oriented youths on the need to participate in the oncoming gubernatorial and state house of assembly elections.
Bldr. Daini, who was also chaperoned by his Vice-Chairman and other youth leaders in the LCDA, wielded the medium to address the youths on the need to rally their support towards the All Progressive Congress party candidates at all fronts.
Extolling the accomplishments of the ruling party, the chairman explained that If the performance of any leader has not positively transformed the lives of youths then that leader is not doing well.
Expressing that such negative traits cannot be attributed to the numerous leaders the APC has been delivering not only in Ikorodu division but in all of Lagos state and Nigeria.
Using the unemployment decline as a case study, Bldr Daini explained how jobs have been created right from the President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu's tenure as Lagos governor from 1999 to 2007, adding that Tinubu's direction of leadership is still heeded to date.
Bldr. Daini continued, "If Tinubu can accomplish numerous feats, which have made Lagos an economic hub in the whole of west Africa, Imagine what he'll do as President of Nigeria,"
On the path of the current Lagos governor, Bldr Daini indicated that the level of job created by Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reduced the level of crime normally recorded in the State because people are working more presently.
He also underlined other sectors where the present administration is toiling tirelessly to stimulate economic development.
"Approximately 25,000 youths will be removed from the space of unemployment due to the operation of Imota Rice Mill, which Mr Sanwo-Olu has established here in Ikorodu".
Hammering on effective governance, Daini let out that bad policies affecting the APC government were put in place by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which the ruling party is labouring hard all through the years to correct in the best interest of Nigerians, especially the vibrant youths.
In all, the council boss instructed the youths not to give up on the All Progressive Congress party leadership, asserting that great aid is coming.
Bldr Daini, in closing, notified youths to be on the ground on the 18th of March, not only to vote for the All Progressive Congress (APC) but also to canvass votes and give the ruling party a massive victory.
"Growth and development might not be as fast as we planned, but always remember that slow and steady wins the race. Let's stay with the All Progressive Congress, it is going to be a new era for the youths" Daini added
Subsequently, An interactive section ensued as youths were given avenues to suggest points of synergy between them and the party's mandates. Bldr. Daini also urged youths to participate in community development association (CDA) meetings, for effective carriage on affairs that guide and foster community development. Engr. Ayotunde Shodeinde, from the Lagos State Public Works Corporation, LSPWC, lauded the council boss for assembling the youths and orientating them on the need to stand by the governing party.
Engr. Shodeinde, asked the youths to come out en mass on March 18th to show their overwhelming support for APC, asserting that a new entrance of modification is what they stand to gain from the ruling party.
All attendees, in a dialogue mode, affirmed their 100% support for APC party candidates, going into the March 18th gubernatorial and state house of assembly elections, at the high point of the meeting.
Other youths in attendance, who were indecisive at first (on the party to vote for) were thereon persuaded by the chairman to heave their backing to the APC.
2 youth representatives from the 114 bases across the LCDA were present at the gathering.
Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA consists of 264 CDAs with 5 wards.

fb img 16789028149906107037426775287295 National leader of the apex Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, Chief Reuben Fasoranti, has endorsed the re-election bid of Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, urging the electorate in the State to queue behind the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate to consolidate on the achievements recorded in the in Lagos. Lagos, the Afenifere leader in a press statement said, is an important nation’s commercial city and the pride of the Yoruba race, saying the evolving physical and socio-economic developments of the city should not be thwarted. He said the State would gain more under the incoming Tinubu administration than when it is in the hands of the opposition.
The elder statesman urged Lagosians not to make the mistake of buying into the gimmick of those bent on reversing the achievement Lagos had recorded.
Pa Fasoranti also described the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as wthe innethe the 2023 presidential election as “a reflection of the electoral will of the majority of Nigerians”, congratulating the former Lagos Governor for his victory.
The Yoruba leader said he aligned with impartial electoral observers to give the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) a pass mark for the conduct of the presidential election, which he described as “free, fair and credible”, despite the challenges that threatened to derail the process.
The elder statesman urged the electoral umpire to build on the gains of the presidential elections and improve on the feat recorded in the conduct of gubernatorial elections coming up next Saturday across the federation.
He said: “I want to use this opportunity to recognise and appreciate the achievements of the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu who is seeking re-election for a second term on the platform of APC. Lagos as the economic nerve centre of Nigeria and by extension of Yorubaland deserves the very best. Governor Sanwo-Olu has been through the mill and crucible of politics, business, and public administration, occupying various positions in government since 1999 and garnering requisite experience which he has displayed in the last four years to the admiration of all and sundry.
“I am convinced that these giant strides should be sustained in the city with the third largest economy in Africa. I, therefore, wish to join my voice to those of other patriotic Lagosians that there is na need for continuity in the state by lending my support to the second term bid of Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu as governor of Lagos State. In addition, I believe that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as APC President will benefit Lagos State more if the state has an APC Governor to compliment whatever the President has for Lagos State.”
Pa Fasoranto acknowledged Sanwo-Olu’s achievement in the provision of physical infrastructure in various sectors of the Lagos economy, including transportation, education, housing, security, health and agriculture. He added that the response of the Lagos State Government to stop the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic was worthy and commendable.
He said: “Sanwo-Olu’s achievements include but are not limited to the Blue Line rail, Imota Rice Mill, Red Line rail, the Proposed Fourth Mainland Bridge, numerous housing projects in different parts of Lagos, and road projects across the state. These projects, when fully operational, will employ over a million Nigerians, mostly youths, thereby substantially reducing unemployment in the country.
I am convinced that these giant strides should be sustained in the city with the third largest economy in Africa. I, therefore, call on the good people of Lagos State to come out en-masse on Saturday to cast their votes for the governorship candidate of the APC, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu.”

storage emulated 0 pictures comica cartoon16800705640744147684483959975454 The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has issued a message notifying residents of Lagos that with effect from Saturday, 1st April, bus fares on all regulated buses BRT, Standard and FLM- shall revert to a 100 per cent rate. The notice which was published on social media indicated that the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, on Lagos Wednesday, 8th February 2023 approved a 50% slash in bus fares following the cash crunch brought about by the recent currency swap. It continued, "Following the Supreme Court and Federal Government's pronouncements on the use of old notes alongside the new notes and the return of stability to the system, the 50% rebate is hereby discontinued". "Consequently, bus fares return to a pre-50% slash rate effective Saturday, 1st April 2023" the statement ends.

sanwo olu driver 547159360393872535 Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has said he’ll be paying the sum of ₦5million awarded by the court as compensation to an Uber driver, Adedotun Clement, who was assaulted during the first anniversary of the EndSARS protest.
The Governor who spoke through his Social Media handles said he was going to honour the March 14 judgment of the Lagos division of the high court ordering the state government to pay ₦ 5 million as compensation to Clement.
The Governor wrote,
“Good evening Lagos, as Governor, I'm committed to upholding the rule of law and protecting citizens' rights with empathy and authority. "I recently became aware of the case involving Mr Clement Adedotun and the judgement by the Federal High Court, and I understand the impact this legal battle has had on him."
"After reviewing Mr Clement's case, I've directed the Honorable Attorney General to set up a meeting and pay him the compensation awarded by the Court."
“Although the State Government has appealed the ruling, I’ve interceded in this instance in the interest of the public good, and requested that the State’s Attorney General comply with the court’s ruling."
“As a strong advocate for the rule of law, I commend all parties for seeking justice through the appropriate channels, and I remain committed to upholding the rights of all Lagosians".

fb img 16798554005228159388057465428565 The Lagos State Government has vowed to continue clamp down on miscreants who harass Motorists and truck drivers going about their lawful businesses, through continuous sting operations across the State.
The Ministry of Transportation made this known at weekend while parading four suspected hoodlums by the name; Tunji Oyedeji, Allison Ozin, Taiwo Olubodun and Awotunde Ahmed, while carrying out their illegal activities in Amuwo-Odofin area of the State.
Recall that the Transport Operations and Compliance Unit of the Ministry in February apprehended a group of miscreants in Igando axis, while extorting a tipper driver on his way to offload sand.
Condemning their actions, the Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Frederic Oladeinde stated that the continuous arrest of these miscreants demonstrates the State Government’s resolve to ensure an enabling environment devoid of miscreants’ activities, saying, the Ministry will intensify its sting operations across the State to tame these urchins whose actions hinder economic development.
The Transport Commissioner noted that the suspects arrested have been handed over to the Lagos State TASKFORCE for investigation and prosecution, warning others to desist from these illegal activities or be made to face the full wrath of the law in line with the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law 2018.
