888877uuuuuuuuu7688521476422517473 Lagos State First Lady, Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu on Thursday organised a parley to simplify the usage of the Permanent Voters Card (PVC) and the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BIVAS) for artisans and members of political groups and various grassroots associations including the People Living with Disabilities in the state.
The parley, held at Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja, is the 4th in the series organised by the First Lady in furtherance of sensitisation programs put together for critical stakeholders on the forthcoming general elections.
The First Lady said the focal objective of the parley was to train the trainers and ensure that citizens are well sensitised on the electioneering process and procedures to follow on election day.
“According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), we have about 5.5 million voters who have collected their PVCs in Lagos State and there is a need to encourage a large percentage of this number to come out and vote on the election day.
“Every one of you here is an ambassador. You have a lot of people who are members of your groups, associations, and organisation. We need to convince people to come out and vote on election day.
“More importantly, it is not enough to encourage large voter turnout but to ensure that voters are adequately schooled on avoiding void votes,” she said.
The First Lady urged the participants to guard their PVCs jealously by keeping them safe at home until the day of the election to vote.
“Your PVC is your passport to protect your future and secure the future of our children and grandchildren. It is our civic responsibility to guard it jealously and use it at the appropriate time on election day,” she said. Besides, the First Lady said Lagos continues to record phenomenal feats because of the continuity in governance that had been sustained since 1999 as successive administrations have kept faith with the blueprint of development laid by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“Continuity is our winning formula in Lagos State. We have the products that we always talk about. This is the campaign period and my product is the broom party, All Progressives Congress (APC).
“Our Presidential candidate is Asiwaju Tinubu; our Governorship candidate is Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu. We also have our Senatorial, House of Reps, and State House of Assembly candidates. "I urge you all to vote APC all the way to engender the leadership that will bring about renewed hope to our country and further consolidate on the achievements of the last four years in Lagos State,” the First Lady said.
On her part, the Wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs Oluremi Hamzat urged parents to caution their children against being used to perpetrate violence during the elections, saying all hands must be on deck to ensure a peaceful electioneering process.
Also speaking, Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folashade Adefisayo said through the Eko Excel initiative introduced by Governor Sanwo-Olu, 18,000 primary school teachers were trained to deliver high-quality education leveraging technology and handed tablets to teach in the classrooms.
As part of the parley, there were other presentations on the achievements of the State Government in critical sectors in the last four years including Wealth Creation and Employment, Women's Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, and Civic engagement, among others.
The First Lady also distributed relief items to participants.
Some of the participants, Prince Kenny Bakare of Project LOUD and Mrs Bose Joseph of Made-In-Lagos Political organisation commended the First Lady for the initiative of the parley, saying they were personally enlightened about how to properly vote on election day.

473883b3n8617503294831651245. As the race for Ikorodu constituency 2 gets stiffer, it was a startling turn of events after a public meeting was held by the APC caucus group in Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA on the 13th of May 2022.
The gathering which was competently overseen by Governor Advisory Council Member, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun took place at his residence in Igbogbo.
Visibly present from the jump were constituency 2 aspirants, Hon Saka Nurudeen Solaja and Hon Hammed Aroyewun (HOA), the APC candidate who officially declared his notch down from the race a few days prior.
With the primary elections getting closer and tensions getting loftier, the symposium resemblance became apparent as the GAC member (Olorunfunmi Basorun) weighed in into the constituency 2 race which pertains to Igbogbo Baiyeku, Imota and Ijede LCDA in Ikorodu division.
A sphere in the race which has formally recognised a rotational trajectory approach would eventually see a historic turn as the group officially throws her support behind the incumbent constituency 2 representatives (Hon Saka Solaja).
Explaining his critical decision, Asiwaju Basorun explained that the traditional unwritten rotational agreements must stop for representatives to be given more opportunities to return and serve their constituency.
Basorun continued, "In situations like this, people always use the countenance to determine one's decision, but the truth is, you can never know the mind of a person via their face"
"With Ikorodu constituency 2 as our main focus, I want to first acknowledge the likes of Hammed Aruyewun and others who have deemed it fit to step aside from this closely observed race that is filled with tension and unrest"
"My kind of pedigree cannot be lobbied with money to make any form of developmental decision, and whatsoever conclusion we take is for the better good and profit of the entire Ikorodu division"
"Hon Saka Nurudeen Solaja is currently the Chairman of the public account committee at the Lagos State House Of Assembly, it is only wise that at this juncture, we allow him to return to the house of assembly in a bid to make him evolve into a principal member" Basorun asserted
Asiwaju Basorun further stated that in a meeting with the National Leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu advised selves to allow their representatives to return to the house in a quest for elevated chances.
He further highlighted undertakings that have been implemented by Hon Solaja, citing it as another core reason for the incumbent representative to return.
With the remarks made by Olorunfunmi Bosorun, the rotational approach witnessed in Ikorodu constituency 2 is set to come to an end, given the race, an open plain field for aspiring candidates to clinch the assembly seat.
Hon Saka Solaja, after receiving the endorsement by the APC caucus group, in his short remark thanked Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun for the endorsement to serve again at the house of assembly.
Acknowledging hon Hammed Aroyewun for stepping aside in the race, the incumbent representative further urged all his supporters to get ready and vote for him in the oncoming primaries.

This year's festivities hold a dual significance as it coincides with the 5th coronation anniversary of the revered Sekumade of Ipakodo, His Royal Majesty (HRM) Oba Aremu Shotonwa.
The celebration began in earnest with a spectacular woro procession, which saw the active participation of the youth and residents.
The procession wound its way through the major thoroughfares of Ipakodo, filling the air with the rhythms of traditional songs and the vibrant colours of cultural attire.
It was a heartwarming sight as the entire community joined in, reflecting the unity and pride of Ipakodo.
The grand procession culminated at the majestic palace, where different factions paid homage to the beloved Oba of Ipakodo.
HRM Oba Aremu Shotonwa, resplendent in his regal attire, graciously received the well-wishers and expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support and participation of the community in making the start of the celebration truly memorable.
In his address to the gathered crowd, Oba Bashiru Aremu Shotonwa announced plans for a significant development in Ipakodo.
He also revealed to Ikorodu News Network (INN) that the occasion of his 5th coronation anniversary, which aligns with Ipakodo Day celebrations, would mark the inception of a pavilion construction project. "This pavilion would serve as a central hub for community gatherings, and cultural events, and a symbol of unity for the Ipakodo people" Oba Shotonwa asserted.
The Sekumade of Ipakodo concluded his remarks by calling on all residents to maintain the same spirit of unity and cooperation throughout the celebration, leading up to the grand finale day.

Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has said.
Dr. Obasa gave this position in a congratulatory message to Nigerians on the occasion of the country's 63rd Independence anniversary.
In the message released by his media office, the Speaker noted that Nigeria is currently led by Asiwaju Tinubu, a financial expert and who knows how to plug every hole that would ordinarily hinder the country from reaching its goals.
Noting the current challenges facing Nigeria, Dr. Obasa encouraged the citizens to be more tolerant at this time and exercise more patience with the hope of a greater destination for the country.
"We collectively understand the state of the country. We also know the sacrifice each of us is making at the moment to see that our nation works for us again.
"Delightedly, the administration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has hit the ground running sorting out the challenges and designing action plans to resolve a whole lot of them. This is what we expect of a Nigerian leader at this time.

It will be recalled that the Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District launched the quarterly Food Packs Programme in June 2023. This is the second edition of the well applauded programme targeted at vulnerable people, namely; widows, unemployed youth, aged, women and People living with disabilities are drawn across the 98 wards in the 16 Local Government Areas and Local Council Development areas of the district. Constituents trooped out en masse to various collections in Ikorodu, Epe, Ibeju-Lekki, Somolu and Kosofe LGAs to collect the Food Packs containing:Goldenvita, Semo Vita, Garri, Pure Soya Oil, Spread(Butter), Granulated Sugar, Pasta Couscous, Pasta Macaroni, Pasta Spaghetti, Noodles Jollof, Noodles GMPS and Amazing Day Breakfast Cereal. In his remarks, Senator Abiru, fondly called the #DoingGood Senator, said the food packs programme was a direct intervention for the people at the grassroot who are feeling the heat of the economic pangs occasioned by the removal of petroleum subsidy. According to him, the Food Packs will support the most vulnerable households in this challenging period.
The Senator also assured that he will not relent in championing legislations, programmes and interventions that will have lasting impacts on the larger number of the constituents of Lagos East. He said SAIL Innovation Lab, the first of its kind Innovation Lab in Lagos East, founded by him and his wife, Feyisola was set up to offer sustainable and globally competitive jobs and opportunities to young people of the district. Senator Abiru said a sizable number of youths had been trained in digital and tech-related programmes that are well sought-after globally. On the critical Ikorodu-Itokin road which serves as a major road that links the Ikorodu to Epe and Ibeju-Lekki, and other parts of the country, he assured that the new government of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has shown commitment to implement the awarded rehabilitation project. It is imperative to state that this is not the first direct humanitarian assistance for the needy that the distinguished Senator Abiru has done. It will be recalled that the Lagos East Senator disbursed more than N150 million Naira in about 24 months to over 2,500 vulnerable people under his COVID-19 Financial Relief Scheme. Every month, beneficiaries received direct credit of N5,000 each for the period the programme lasted.
Some of the beneficiaries who expressed gratitude to Senator Abiru include; Muftau Adegboyega Tojuowo, a Person Living with a Disability, other include, Anuoluwapo Zainab, Tiletile Kazeem Idowu, Folake Akerele and Niyi Oyeniran.
