godwin emefiele1172182703286504474 The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has confirmed the evacuation of banknotes from its vaults to commercial banks across the country as part of a coordinated effort to ease the circulation of banknotes of various denominations.
The Acting Director, of the Corporate Communications Department of the CBN, Dr Isa AbdulMumin, disclosed this in Abuja on Friday, stating that a substantial amount of money, in various denominations, had been received by the commercial banks for onward circulation to their respective customers.
According to him, the CBN had directed all banks to load their Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) as well as conduct physical operations in the banking halls through the weekends.
"Branches of commercial banks will operate on Saturdays and Sundays to attend to customers' cash needs," he noted, adding that the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr Godwin Emefiele, would personally lead teams to monitor the level of compliance by the banks in various locations across the country.
He, therefore, urged Nigerians to be patient as the current situation would ease soon with the injection of more banknotes into circulation.
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) had directed its members to picket the offices of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) nationwide over cash scarcity.

The line-up of events by the Bank commenced on Monday, March 20, 2023, with a walk from the old parade ground to the Bank’s Headquarters in Abuja.
Students from various Government Secondary Schools in Abuja were part of the walk, which ended with a tour of the Bank’s Currency Museum, a lecture on financial literacy and a Quiz on savings culture.

The press release by CBN reads, "The aforementioned story went further to allege that the Governor has made a certain amount of money available to a candidate ahead of the March 18, 2023, gubernatorial poll".
"We wish to inform members of the public that this story is completely false and malicious as the CBN Governor does not know and has never met or even spoken with Mr Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, either in person or through a proxy". "We wish to reiterate that the CBN Governor does not take part in politics and therefore urge anyone with contrary information to prove the Governor wrong by providing any facts". "As such, the Governor and his team at the CBN should be allowed to focus on their assigned job to achieve the statutory mandate of the Bank" the statement ends.

According to the fake post, Nigerians are being told to go and stock their home. The fake post reads, "Anyhow you can get money between today and tomorrow, get and keep it, also whatever transfer you want to do, do it between today and tomorrow, information am hearing is that, as of Thursday, the bank network will go off till Sunday or Monday, so that politician will not be able to transfer money to anybody for a vote, so buy enough food at home, do ur transfer now. Because the next five days will be difficult pls". However, the CBN (in discrediting the above statement) via its official social media page has warned Nigerians to be wary of fake news, as it plans to continue operations.

Omomajemu, in his short message on Wednesday the 22nd of February 2023, emphasised that if truly administrators want to succeed and develop the Nation, then adhering to the cry of the people must be their number one priority.
Educating the minds of residents in his sermon, Bishop Otusanya explained that it will be a huge mistake for any leader to ignore the cries of the populace at the helm of affairs.
Citing the Bible scriptures, Exodus 2:25, Omomajemu explains, "God looked upon the children of Israel, and God had respect for them".
"If God himself, who created the heavens and the earth, and gave rise to man too could have respect for men, why would a leader rule without demonstrating the utmost respect for his fellow beings?"
"You did not get to the position you're in today by yourself, God put you there because everything has been authorised by God". "He did it not because you're the best, wisest, knowledgeable or powerful, No!, God design everything the way he wants it," Omomajemu said. Bishop Festus illustrated that God appoints leaders and put them in charge for them to manage the resources he has provided for his children, asserting that the essence of leadership is to give the system a structure.
Furthermore, he advised leaders to be careful, because God did not put them in roles for their own sake or pockets.
"If leaders refuse to listen to the cries of Nigerians? God will surely listen to them, and you know what it means when God listens to the cry of his people and intervenes" Omomajemu cautions.
