900987ikkko9066272031546710323 Ikorodu Man Of the Year & Outstanding Personalities Award (IMOYA) was conceptualised to admire and laud noteworthy indigenes of the Ikorodu division who are partaking meaningfully in the all-around growth and development of the waterbed region.
The prestigious annual ceremony was held on the 21st of January 2023 at the Ikorodu Ultra-modern town hall.
Organised by Dammygreen International concepts, publisher of Starlight Legacy Celebrity Magazine, the award conforms as courage for the furtherance of service to humanity, and a medium to enable young people on the need to be a part of nation-building.
The highlight of the 2023 edition celebrated the Odofin of Ikorodu Kingdom and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, High Chief Adewunmi Ogunsanya, CEO of Multi-Choice Nigeria, as Man of the year.
Subsequently, Sir (Otunba) Ayodele Oluwole Elesho bagged the Outstanding Community Statesman award, Ikorodu Local Government Vice-Chairman, Aarebirin Honourable (Dr) Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba took the Outstanding Amazon award, and Ikorodu West LCDA Chairman, Hon. Sulaimon Olanrewaju Kazeem earned Council Chairman of the year award.
Furthermore, Managing Director and CEO of Ikorodu General Hospital, Dr Taiwo Hassan capped a special recognition award on service excellence and community development, APC flag bearer for Ikorodu constituency 2 at the Lagos State House Of Assembly, Hon. Abiodun Moshood Aro (AMA) won the Outstanding Youth award in the male category, while Miss Abagun Lateef Oriyomi won the Outstanding youth award in the female category. Community Service Award went to IKODASS Prince Adekunle Eniola Bada, Community and Youth Development awards were yanked by Mr Muheedeen Oriyomi Balogun, Hon. Kehinde Fadeyi (Ijede), Comrade Odumosu Abiodun Ashaka (Imota) and Comrade Babatunde David Oyesanya (Igbogbo Baiyeku) won the Promising Youth for Leadership Award.
According to Damola Aderibigbe, IMOYA initiator, in 2003, upon the creation of ljede LCDA, the publisher, then based in Surulere, Lagos was invited by the then Secretary to the local government of Ijede LCDA Mr Lanre Kuye, to start a publication for the Ijede community.
The acceptance of the persuasive request from Mr Lanre Kuve gave birth to the launch of Ijede Starlight Community Newspaper on the 11th of September 2004 and the eventual relocation of the publisher to Ijede community, in the Ikorodu division of Lagos state.
He continued, "For about 2 decades now, Starlight Newspaper had survived all odds to stay aloft in the very turbulent and challenging world of print media".
"By his grace, come September 2024, the publication shall be celebrating its 20th anniversary in community journalism" Mr Aderibigbe asserted.
Former Lagos State House Of Assembly Clerk, Otunba Ganiyu Olusegun Abiru, who performed the majority of the presentation, expressed his satisfaction with the award ceremony. He added that the event, which gives more value to the leadership strides of stakeholders in Ikorodu division has come to stay.
He proceeded, "We'll do our best to ensure that this event continues to keep putting the commitment of different leaders in the spotlight, appreciating them in return".
"It is a credible event of this nature that validates contributions and efforts made to make Ikorodu division the 12th largest city in Africa and the 3rd largest in Southwest Nigeria" Otunba Abiru added
Ayangburen-in-Council, Executive Vice-Chairman Ikorodu West LCDA, Hon. Adesegun Aluko, Mr Seun Elesho, NYCN State Chairman, Comrade Lekan Billiamin-Oba, Mr Samson Bisiriyu, Mrs Jessica Enitan Oba, delegates from iCare foundation, Hon. Abiodun Moshood Aro Campaign faction and other dignitaries were in attendance.
IMOYA's maiden edition was held in 2016, which identified groundbreaking achievers in the community.

Sculptured to improve harmony in the spirit of the yuletide, the festivity floated trends, and expositions of rich and diverse African best arts & crafts, stirring with entertainment. The tourism extravaganza which spanned for one-week, headlined; a rendition of traditional live music, games, inter-tribal cultural dance competitions, fashions, ethnic foods, cultural histories & presentations, tourism edu-information, and youth acrobatic performances. It further showcased the cultural heritage of the great people of Ondo State, from the 18 tribal dialects of her environs.
Enticing people of all ages, with a plethora of proficiency and stimulating the substantial relation between the people beyond native tongues and tribal sentiments.

Somolu Local Government and Bariga district/suburb in Lagos State were hyped up on the 12th of January, as Bola Tinubu 4 President 2023 support group takes its roadshow further.
The rally billed as 5th touchdown by the Pro-tinubu political crusade group, gained more composure across the inner axis of the region, establishing its usual cognition array.
Sharing souvenirs and simultaneously entertaining residents, business owners and various institutions with good music as usual, the roadshow triggered determination from a population clamouring for better governance post-2023 elections.
From the jump, the group paid a courtesy visit to the palace of HRM, Oba Habib Ola Ade Kassim (Bashua Oba Of Somolu), who received the faction with warmth, showering blessings on them for a serene road parade.
As the march advanced, re-election contesting Member of the House of Representatives for Somolu Federal Constituency, Bar. Ademorin Aliu Kuye, Somolu Constituency 1 candidate, Hon. Biodun Orekoya, and Honourable Samuel Olufemi Apata, Somolu Constituency 2 (Bariga) House of Assembly candidate, all under the All Progressive Congress umbrella, came out with their massive supporters, making the rally an extraordinary spectacle.
Though put together by the Bola Tinubu 4 President 2023 support group, the parade purely reflected a collective synergy within the ruling party across the local government to sensitive the people towards the forthcoming elections.
Speaking to members of the press post-rally, Mr Fola Tinubu clarified that his main takeaway from the parade predicts the people's readiness and acceptance to vote for APC.
Re-emphasising the necessity for the roadshow, Mr Tinubu, DG and Vice-Chairman, Bola Tinubu 4 President 2023 support group, said that no one should take for granted the demand to always go to the people, notifying them of the need to partake in the electoral system.
According to Fola Tinubu, Lagos is an APC State, which is demonstrated in the people's encouraging acknowledgments during the parade.
He continued, "If the people are not happy about the style of the APC statute, you won't see them getting so excited to see us as we moved around".
"Their motivation is based on the good governance they've enjoyed from the All Progressive Congress's candidates across the board and I reckon they taste for more".
Appraising the parade as triumphing, Mr Fola Tinubu affirmed that the group will continue to use the crusade to build the party's electoral momentum to spawn a landslide victory.
"Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the president Nigerians have been waiting for, and come February 25th, we shall elect a new president that will lead us to the Nigeria of our dreams," he said.
Sounding the alarm for Nigerians to vote in Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the next president of Nigeria, Mr Fola Tinubu also called on Lagosians to get their PVC ready to re-elect Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Mr Olajide Oduyoye, Head of Planning and logistics for the group complimented Mr Tinubu's remarks in elucidating the essence of the rally
According to him, "We've found it unique, utilising this movement to reach out to voters in their homes and workplaces because we know they might not be chanced to attend a non-mobile campaign".
"We'll continue to sound the alarm till February 25th and rally our base to prepare themselves with their PVC to vote come Election Day".
"There is no perfect leader in America, nor is there a perfect leader in Nigeria, but the closest thing we have as a perfect leader to direct this nation in the right path is Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu" Mr Olajide noted.
Antonia Olabukola Adelakun, A staunch APC party member, advised women and youths not to relent in supporting the All Progressive Congress from the Presidency to the house of Assembly, expanding that the party will ensure to broaden its all-inclusive style of governance with the eventual emergence of Bola Tinubu as President of Nigeria.
Hon. Sesan Olanrewaju, the First Chairman of Somolu Local Government and Coordinator of the Group in Somolu/Bariga was also in attendance.
A large number of loyalists representing the Lagos East Senatorial APC flag bearer, Senator Adetokunbo Abiru also joined the procession in their all-yellow costumes, adding more spice to the rally.
The group is slated to similarly take the roadshow to Ekiti, Ondo, Oyo, Osun and Ogun states respectively to further propagate their message.

THE EXTRAVAGANT 36TH EDITION OF ISIWU EWEYE GRAND FINALE DAY CELEBRATION ®™√ INN Nigeria ©

888776thjkoo7293202053056880928 The 36th edition of Isiwu Eweye Day celebrations transparently revealed the ancestral roots of Isiwu town, uniting the void between additional key boroughs in Ikorodu North LCDA.
Majestic ending of the annual traditional extravaganza held on the 26th of December 2022, was all about glitz, glamour, fashion and promotion of the epic lineage in Ikorodu division.
The annual festivity which kicked off on the 20th featured programs; publicity, free health care program, Clean Up Isiwu, Artisan, Trader & Sports Day, Woro, Ibiripo and Ikokore day.
Hosted by his royal majesty, Oba Olukayode David Raji, Eweye of Isiwu, the royal finale received HRM, Oba Kazeem Gbadamosi, Ologijo of Ogijo, and HRM, Oba Aderibigbe Asunmo, the paramount ruler of Odo-Ayandelu Ikosi Ejinrin Epe.
A cultural performance by Apepe group, led by Lukman Shafari (Olotu Pampa) brought the celebration to a standstill, as the conventional musician thrilled guests.
Paying homage to HRM, Oba Olukayode David Raji, the Eweye of Isiwu included; Obayori Obirin Eweye Isiwu, Omo Oke Parapo Isiwu Eweye, Onofonyin Royal Family Of Isiwu, Bobakeye of Isiwu Kingdom, Egbe Gbobaniyi of Isiwu and a stand from Ikorodu federal lawmaker, Hon. Babaji Benson's iCare foundation.
The festival further exhibited its interest in education as winners of its spelling bees and debate competition were given cash prizes courtesy Otunba Folagbade Banwo, Chairman of the occasion.
Prince Adedoyin Jokotex (PAJ) movement also presented school bags to the champs.
Speaking on behalf of the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, Bldr Adeola Adebisi Banjo, the vice-chairman, Hon. Olawale Ameen touted the organising committee for putting together an extraordinary experience.
According to Hon. Olawale, the Council Boss has always been supportive of the festival, and will constantly do so to further project the tradition of the region.
He added that the synergy between the traditional institution and local council is a union that must be adopted frequently to harmonise activities in the community.
Miss Oladibu Comfort from LG Primary school took the first position. She and other students were gifted with cash and gift prizes.
The chairman of Isiwu development association, impressed by the intellectual performances promised the students higher scholarship programs to enhance their academic dreams.
According to the Chairman, Otunba Folagbade Banwo, subsequent 37th edition of the festival will proceed to upgrade in standard and elegance.
He affirmed that the occasion would evolve to measure up to numerous annual escapades commemorated across Ikorodu division. Suing for more synergy and unity among inhabitants, HRM, Oba Olukayode Raji, thanked both residents and the planning committee for making the festival an outstanding event, exhorting the organisers to build on the progressive trajectory.

He concluded by honouring the effort of HRM, Oba Olukayode David Raji, Olugbade 11, Eweye of Isiwu and the 2022 Eweye Day Planning committee members in conjunction with Isiwu Youth Development Association. Talking to Ikorodu News Network (INN), Mr Habeeb Adeyemi Adesanya, Chairman, of the planning committee disclosed that the event is a unifying symbol for all strata in the region.
In his words, "Isiwu is an ancestral town in Ikorodu North which encompasses of all the council wards; Odogunyan, Agbede, Erikorodu and Agbala".
"Isiwu is also where both the palace of our paramount ruler and the local council secretariat are located, which tells you about the importance of this community".
On the sport and educational competition, Mr Habeeb noted that the contest was organised in all the council wards before finalists were chosen to attend the climax for a special presentation. Communicating on the educational aid earned by students at the event, Mr Habeeb expressed that the organisers did it to encourage students to take their studies more seriously, asserting that if the collective roles of everyone in the community are in play, more promising leaders will emerge.
