Accompanied by delegates from the Lagos State Government and Lagos State Public Works Corporation, LSPWC, Engr. Ayotunde Shodeinde, Rep. Benson and his State entourage earned a cheerful welcome from the evangelical body at Pashoku, Ita-Elewa axis of Ikorodu local government.
With March 11th gubernatorial and state house of assembly elections around the corner, the National Lawgiver seized the medium to request prayers and support during the meeting to spawn success for the All Progressive Congress (APC) party.
In his speech, Rep. Benson enthralled the 10 parishes of the church (represented), yearning their backing and prayers for Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the APC House of Assembly candidates in Ikorodu Constituency 1 & 2, Hon. Gbolahan Ogunleye (OGA) and Hon. Abiodun Moshood Aro Moshood (AMA).
Rep. Benson continued, "Ikorodu delivered the highest votes at the general elections on the 25th of February, which we know that a lot of members from religious bodies played a part in the outcome".
"Due to the impressive outcome, the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, sent me and his delegates to appreciate the church for their assistance and also ask for your endorsement in the oncoming elections" He asserted.
The Regional Pastor, Clergy Dele Olowookere, thanked the lawmaker for his brief visit and also congratulated him on his re-election victory on February 25th.
Bestowing more light to the essence of the official visit, Clergy Dele explained that the Lagos State governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has done extremely well in office and deserves to continue.
Clarifying that the church is in support of good governance, Pastor Dele said that his mindset is to see the desire of Gov. Sanwo-Olu, winning the March 11th election come to pass, so he could accomplish more for the centre of excellence state.
Pastor Dele proceeded "Some of our members here are part of your political party and groups, we know even though they're quiet because we're in church, they'll come out en mass on Saturday to vote for Sanwo-Olu" Pastor Dele told Rep. Benson.
"What we shall do here is perform our spiritual duty by praying for you and using you as a point of contact to command success for Mr Governor at the gubernatorial elections".
"It is indeed a good thing you've decided to meet with us for the support despite the numerous religious bodies we have around Ikorodu division" Pastor Dele asserted
The legislator was subsequently called out by the region 26 pastor, who requested all leaders and members stretch forth their hands and pray for him to be properly guided in his return to office as Ikorodu federal statesman.

All the candidates converged on the International Conference Centre, Abuja on Wednesday for the landmark occasion.
<p>
Among the presidential candidates present were Bola Tinubu (APC); Peter Obi (LP), Atiku Abubakar (PDP), Rabiu Kwankwaso (NNPP), and Dan Nwanyanwu (ZLP).
<p>
Unlike elections before 2015 when the National Peace Committee came into existence, presidential candidates for the 2023 polls were made to sign the Peace Accord twice.
<p>
The first one was signed in September last year, before the commencement of campaigns. That accord was signed to oblige the candidates to a peaceful Campaign.
<p>
This signing is the second at last to be signed by the candidates and is to enlist their commitment to the peaceful conduct of the 2023 presidential election.
<p>
President Muhammadu Buhari, in his address, reiterated his commitment to allowing the rule of law to take its course. The President called on those saddled with the responsibility of conducting the election to allow the electorate to choose who governs them. <p>
He also appealed to the candidates to accept the outcome of the election, and seek legal redress if dissatisfied.
<p>
Some of the peace committee members present included General Abdulsalami Abubakar, Bishop Matthew Kukah, and Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Saad Abubakar III. Other attendees were the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Usman Alkali Baba, and former president of South Africa, Thabo Mbeki, who leads the Commonwealth Election Observer Group to Nigeria. <p>
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) restated its commitment to conducting the elections as scheduled.
<p>
The INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, also assured Nigerians of a transparent exercise.
<p>
The IGP, in his remarks, decried the lack of compliance with the spirit of the September peace accord, which committed the candidates to issue-based campaigns.
<p>
Baba appealed to political parties to rein in their supporters to ensure that the election is peaceful.
<p>
He also called on the candidates to emulate former President Goodluck Jonathan who accepted the outcome of the 2015 elections and helped keep the country’s peace.
<p>
In her remarks, the European Union (EU) ambassador to Nigeria, Samuela Isopi, urged Nigeria to lead by example and send a strong message to the world about consolidating democracy.
<p>
She called on all candidates to accept the results of the elections and seek legal redress when dissatisfied.
<p>
The Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Baroness Scotland, underscored the importance of the 2023 general elections, stressing the significant position Nigeria occupies on the continent.

p00998897E21091399428780537231. The Wasiu Adesina Babes also known as WADESH Babes held an enthralling meeting on 15th February 2023 on the voting procedures for Elderly women and mobilisation strategies.
The meeting was targeted at creating adequate awareness to eligible voters before the 2023 general elections slated for February 25th and March 11th 2023.
Alhaja Rasheedat Bello, the LGA Women Leader of the All Progressive Congress, Ikorodu Central lectured elderly women who are party faithfuls in attendance, with a pictorial show of thumb voting procedure, after the BVAS system must have ascertained their PVC and bestowed them ballot papers on the election day. She instructed the women not to back down in their mobilisation push and ensured to vote for candidates of APC. Adding that their PVC should back Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for President, Gov. Sanwo-olu's re-election bid as Governor of Lagos State, Sen. Tokunbo Abiru (representing Lagos East Senatorial District), Hon. Babajimi Benson MHR (for Ikorodu federal Constituency) and Hon. Gbolahan Ogunleye (OGA) for Ikorodu constituency 1 at the Lagos State House Of Assembly.

President Muhammadu Buhari is considering extending the validity of old naira notes by 60 days, according to a reliable source.
<p>
This is to avoid disobeying the order of the Supreme Court of Nigeria which ruled that the old N1,000, N500 and N200 notes remain valid until it delivers judgment in the case filed by some states against the federal government.
<p>
The CBN had insisted that the deadline of February 10 would not be changed but a senior government official told reporters that Buhari was worried about the hardship faced by Nigerians as well as the legal implications of disobeying the order of the constitutional court.
<p>
The official told reporters that this was the focus of a meeting between Buhari and the leadership of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) as well as the Progressives Governors Forum until the early hours of Wednesday.
<p>
The governors were then expected to withdraw their case at the apex court.
<p>
“The resolve was to give room for President Buhari to make concessions on the monetary policy and make the following announcements public,” the official said.
<p>
“One, that the old naira notes of N1,000, N500 and N200 be allowed free movement in and out of the banks for the next 60 days.
<p>
“Two, that all three notes will be legal tender during this period, but that any old N500 or N1000 that goes into a bank will not be sent back into circulation.”
<p>
The official said that while others were “on the same page with the president”, Nasir El-Rufai, governor of Kaduna state, insisted on total cancellation of the policy.
<p>
Buhari, who had earlier delayed attending the federal executive council (FEC) meeting by 40 minutes to monitor the development at the Supreme Court, was disappointed that the governors reneged on their promise to withdraw the case.
<p>
He had, after the meeting Wednesday, met with Godwin Emefiele, the CBN governor, and Modibbo Tukur, the director of the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU), on the need to allow all old notes circulate in the system to ease the hardship on ordinary Nigerians.
<p>
“The president will not disobey the court. But he is also concerned about the suffering of Nigerians and wants to find a lasting solution to it,” the official further explained to reporters.
<p>
“It is clear that some militancy is being propagated against the people by the elite who have the means to secure the new notes no matter what while the people continue to suffer.
<p>
“The president will continue to engage and see the way out of the logjam.”

A political backing, made known by the faction's founder, Chief Princess Ezuma Scholastica, popularly dubbed Ada-Igbo gburugburu at her pre-election stakeholder's meeting.
Held on the 6th of February 2023 in Igbodu axis of Ijede, the group converged with her members, informing them to ready their PVC towards the forthcoming elections.
The discussion brought in stakeholders of the group who are squarely from the constituency 2 regions of Ikorodu i.e Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA, Imota LCDA and Ijede LCDA.
Without grating messages, the faction founder, Princess Scholastica Ezuma stated that as a woman leader who has been involved with politics for over 35 years, she is always pressured by the sobs of her people to offer solutions to their difficulties.
According to Princess Ezuma, election day will present itself like an exam fever for only those who are not certain about their candidate of choice, putting in that for her group, it's APC from top to bottom.
Explaining further, she said, "When I contested some years ago, it was an indigene of Ikorodu that sponsored me, and now it's time for me to give my entire base behind capable candidates in Ikorodu, and the All Progressive Congress (APC) party is my choice".
"We understand how the system works and our choice is not laid based on sharing rice and collecting money, but on choosing adequate leadership that will improve the lives of our members".
"For Lagos State House of Assembly in Ikorodu constituency 2, we're throwing all our support behind APC's Hon. Abiodun Moshood Aro (AMA), because according to his catchphrase, if you see AMA? you'll smile, and indeed we want our people to smile".
Not lunging tiers, Princess Ezuma also vowed the group's support for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate, Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Senator Adetokunbo Mukahil Abiru, representing the Lagos East senatorial district and Hon. Babajimi Benson MHR, representing Ikorodu federal constituency.
She urged members to go back home and gather their followers to get ready for election day, asserting that Ikorodu must not grieve post-election.
Also addressing members, Elder Eze Ibe, another leader in the group said that presently, Nigeria is like a church that is about to witness crossover, noting that the choice of Princess Ezuma will never lead the group astray.
He continued, "If they're bad then vote them out, but if they're good re-elect them".
"The funny truth is, when you get to that ballot box, only you and God knows who you'll vote for".
"So, be ready to exercise your civic duty for APC on election day and vote with your conscience".
He further advised that a lot of other party candidates will be listed on the ballot papers, and voters are to check precisely for their chosen APC candidate on the sheet before voting.
"If we have decided to support all flag-bearing candidates of the All Progressive Congress (APC) as declared by Princess Ezuma, then members should not be afraid or intimidated based on our recommendation" He concluded.
The group finished up the dialogue, pitching another meeting before the election with plans to host the All Progressive Congress (APC) party candidates in Ikorodu.
Welfare packages were distributed to all members in attendance at the meeting.

The notice which was published on social media indicated that the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, on Lagos Wednesday, 8th February 2023 approved a 50% slash in bus fares following the cash crunch brought about by the recent currency swap. It continued, "Following the Supreme Court and Federal Government's pronouncements on the use of old notes alongside the new notes and the return of stability to the system, the 50% rebate is hereby discontinued". "Consequently, bus fares return to a pre-50% slash rate effective Saturday, 1st April 2023" the statement ends.

sanwo olu driver 547159360393872535 Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has said he’ll be paying the sum of ₦5million awarded by the court as compensation to an Uber driver, Adedotun Clement, who was assaulted during the first anniversary of the EndSARS protest.
The Governor who spoke through his Social Media handles said he was going to honour the March 14 judgment of the Lagos division of the high court ordering the state government to pay ₦ 5 million as compensation to Clement.
The Governor wrote,
“Good evening Lagos, as Governor, I'm committed to upholding the rule of law and protecting citizens' rights with empathy and authority. "I recently became aware of the case involving Mr Clement Adedotun and the judgement by the Federal High Court, and I understand the impact this legal battle has had on him."
"After reviewing Mr Clement's case, I've directed the Honorable Attorney General to set up a meeting and pay him the compensation awarded by the Court."
“Although the State Government has appealed the ruling, I’ve interceded in this instance in the interest of the public good, and requested that the State’s Attorney General comply with the court’s ruling."
“As a strong advocate for the rule of law, I commend all parties for seeking justice through the appropriate channels, and I remain committed to upholding the rights of all Lagosians".

fb img 16798554005228159388057465428565 The Lagos State Government has vowed to continue clamp down on miscreants who harass Motorists and truck drivers going about their lawful businesses, through continuous sting operations across the State.
The Ministry of Transportation made this known at weekend while parading four suspected hoodlums by the name; Tunji Oyedeji, Allison Ozin, Taiwo Olubodun and Awotunde Ahmed, while carrying out their illegal activities in Amuwo-Odofin area of the State.
Recall that the Transport Operations and Compliance Unit of the Ministry in February apprehended a group of miscreants in Igando axis, while extorting a tipper driver on his way to offload sand.
Condemning their actions, the Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Frederic Oladeinde stated that the continuous arrest of these miscreants demonstrates the State Government’s resolve to ensure an enabling environment devoid of miscreants’ activities, saying, the Ministry will intensify its sting operations across the State to tame these urchins whose actions hinder economic development.
The Transport Commissioner noted that the suspects arrested have been handed over to the Lagos State TASKFORCE for investigation and prosecution, warning others to desist from these illegal activities or be made to face the full wrath of the law in line with the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law 2018.
