From the youths to adults, the only fond conversation abode during this electioneering week is politics, conceivably due to the stamina and high fraction of dwellers identifying with the ruling party, APC. The same resilience and enthusiasm were shown at the Sogidowo plank market in Itamaga on the 20th of February 2023 as Ikorodu Federal lawmaker, Hon. Babajimi Benson MHR took his party's campaign into the interior part of the region. Entrenched in Ikorodu North axis of the waterbed region, the campaign was received with utmost excitement and jubilation as the leadership of the wood market already publicised posters and leaflets of Rep. Benson across various shops ahead of his arrival. On appearance, Jimi Benson appreciated the massive number of women traders that turned up for his visit, expressing his profound joy in their warm reception and songs of praise. He also extended his recognition to the men and youths on standby. Without wasting time, Jimi Benson acknowledged gazing through the market space before he came, promising to install solar lights across the market stretch for traders to see at nighttime and also for security justifications. He also affirmed a borehole drilling for adequate water supply to the market, asserting that he'll further look into constructing a public toilet system for general demand use. His instant charitable gesture got the traders more delighted as they rained the lawmaker with praises and applause. Intimating the traders on the forthcoming elections, Rep. Benson asked the hyped-up market merchants if they were ready to vote for a new president in Nigeria, and they shouted the name of the All Progressive Congress presidential candidate (Bola Tinubu!), in response. The market women and men were also very happy to hear the name, 'Sanwo-Olu', mentioned by the federal lawmaker as the working Governor to re-elect. Jimi Benson prompted the market populace to extend the same passion towards voting for the Lagos East senatorial district representative, Senator Adetokunbo Mukahil Abiru. Furthermore, he implored the traders to vote for Ikorodu constituency 1 and 2 APC candidates, Hon. Gbolahan Ogunleye (OGA), and Hon. Abiodun Moshood Aro (AMA). Explaining to the traders that the fresh party candidates will provide quality representation on all fronts. Speaking to affirm their devotion, the entire market body led by Alhaji Lateef Shoberu and Alhaja Afusat Egbebi, replenished with excitement pledged their unwavering support to Rep. Benson and other flag-bearing candidates in APC, sounding their satisfaction with the leadership of the ruling party. Both Executive Vice Chairmen of Ikorodu North and Ikorodu West LCDA, Hon. Ameen Olawale and Hon. Adesegun Aluko was present to chaperone the national legislator during his shortstop.

With the general elections fast approaching, the ruling party and its followers took Ikorodu central by awe as multiple supportive factions assembled at the well-known space to further propel its aspirants. Set in motion by the APC Local Organising Committee (LOC) in Ikorodu division, passionate groups; Amiko volunteers, south-south OGA Campaign Group, AMA campaign group, Onward movement of Nigeria, and Tokunbo Abiru campaign group got the space choked up, culminating loyal APC party faithfuls across the waterbed region. It didn't take long before Apex leaders, symbolising fellows, Ikorodu division council bosses and influential personalities hit the stage, making their presence known and establishing the significance of the campaign. Making the support for Hon. Gbolahan Ogunleye the focal point, the crusade also took hold of the platform to canvass support for all other fresh and returning candidates under the APC party's wings. Former Deputy Governor of Lagos State and APC apex Leader in Ikorodu Division, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, father of Ikorodu constituency 1 candidate, joined his GAC colleague, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe on the podium, urging the massive crowd to give massive support to the party during the forthcoming elections. Addressing the mammoth crowd, both leaders advised all to strengthen their voices via votes, ensuring the success of the party at all levels in the 2023 general elections. Characterising APC candidates as capable, the leaders explained that Nigeria can only get better and pan out of its present struggling stage with the right set of administrators in place. Catching up with the pro-tinubu campaign group on the 17th of January 2023, Ikorodu News Network (INN) uncovered the faction's movement across the council's ward A to ward G in the Lagos waterbed region. Led by its founder, Aarebirin Honourable (Dr) Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba, the movement left no stone unturned in her 'Collect your PVC' campaign mobilisation scheme. Communicating with Ikorodu News Network (INN), Folashade-Oba, who's the Executive Vice-Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, said that the campaign is organised to inform residents on realising that the PVC is their right and power as a citizen of Nigeria to beget better governance. Folashade-Oba explained, "Today, we embarked on a PVC stop. Asiwaju Distinguished Ambassadors Movement (ADAM) went around different neighbourhoods, compelling those who are yet to pick up their PVC to do so in earnest". Telling on the group's convergence at the All Progressive Congress (APC) Secretariat in Ikorodu LGA, Folashade illume, "We used the same medium to pay homage to our hospitable APC LGA Chairman, Alhaji Waheed Animashaun at our party's secretariat". "We came here to let him know that he's doing a great job for our great APC party in Ikorodu". "Also, we want him to grasp that together we're cruising to victory for all our APC candidates during the general elections". "From our presidential candidate, His Excellency, Dr Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his running Vice, Senator Kashim Shettima, our Lagos State of Excellence Mr Talk and Do Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat". The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) extended the deadline for the collection of Permanent Voter Cards until Sunday, January 29, 2023.

The notice which was published on social media indicated that the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, on Lagos Wednesday, 8th February 2023 approved a 50% slash in bus fares following the cash crunch brought about by the recent currency swap. It continued, "Following the Supreme Court and Federal Government's pronouncements on the use of old notes alongside the new notes and the return of stability to the system, the 50% rebate is hereby discontinued". "Consequently, bus fares return to a pre-50% slash rate effective Saturday, 1st April 2023" the statement ends.

The Governor who spoke through his Social Media handles said he was going to honour the March 14 judgment of the Lagos division of the high court ordering the state government to pay ₦ 5 million as compensation to Clement. The Governor wrote, “Good evening Lagos, as Governor, I'm committed to upholding the rule of law and protecting citizens' rights with empathy and authority. "I recently became aware of the case involving Mr Clement Adedotun and the judgement by the Federal High Court, and I understand the impact this legal battle has had on him." "After reviewing Mr Clement's case, I've directed the Honorable Attorney General to set up a meeting and pay him the compensation awarded by the Court." “Although the State Government has appealed the ruling, I’ve interceded in this instance in the interest of the public good, and requested that the State’s Attorney General comply with the court’s ruling." “As a strong advocate for the rule of law, I commend all parties for seeking justice through the appropriate channels, and I remain committed to upholding the rights of all Lagosians".

The Ministry of Transportation made this known at weekend while parading four suspected hoodlums by the name; Tunji Oyedeji, Allison Ozin, Taiwo Olubodun and Awotunde Ahmed, while carrying out their illegal activities in Amuwo-Odofin area of the State. Recall that the Transport Operations and Compliance Unit of the Ministry in February apprehended a group of miscreants in Igando axis, while extorting a tipper driver on his way to offload sand. Condemning their actions, the Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Frederic Oladeinde stated that the continuous arrest of these miscreants demonstrates the State Government’s resolve to ensure an enabling environment devoid of miscreants’ activities, saying, the Ministry will intensify its sting operations across the State to tame these urchins whose actions hinder economic development. The Transport Commissioner noted that the suspects arrested have been handed over to the Lagos State TASKFORCE for investigation and prosecution, warning others to desist from these illegal activities or be made to face the full wrath of the law in line with the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law 2018.
