000000222222161771213764749302 The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba psc(+), NPM, NEAPS, FDC, CFR, has acquired three (3) high-powered Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) for improved armed surveillance operations to checkmate criminal activities in the country as a further manifestation of the IGP's determination to integrate the use of innovative technology in the law enforcement duties of the Nigeria Police Force.
The newly acquired drones will surely assist the Police in monitoring active crime scenes, coordinating response operations, and providing armed aerial support to officers on reconnaissance operations.
The 3 newly acquired UAVs are rotary-wing aircraft capable of flying up to an altitude of 1000ft with high operational endurance and the capacity of firing at acquired threats and targets from reasonable distances. The Nigeria Police Airwing has equally concluded training for the operators of the drones in partnership with foreign experts who have been consulted for training and maintenance of the drones.
The IGP has directed the immediate, and strategic deployment of these drones based on necessity while noting that three (3) more UAVs of the same specifications are still expected in the shortest possible time.
The IGP while reiterating the constant deployment and judicious use of the drones, ordered a total clamp down on non-state actors and criminals in Nigeria, and similarly warned criminal elements across the country to steer clear and turn a new leaf else the environment would not conducive to them, and they may meet their waterloo soonest.
The Inspector-General of Police has further re-emphasized the firm determination of his administration to continue to explore the use of technology in the fight against crime and criminality while seeking full cooperation from members of the public on intelligence gathering and vigilance.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc, NPM, fdc, has charged operatives of the Force at various levels to embrace the use of native intelligence, and information and communication technology (ICT) driven approaches to combat the trend of crime and criminality that seem to defy traditional patterns of policing. He emphasized that engaging the citizens actively at the communal level is a key to major crime busting successes recorded in recent times. IGP Usman equally emphasized the importance of strategically deploying technological assets such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), upgraded road-to-base operational vehicles installed with high-tech communication and reporting features, and technical intelligence apparatus. The IGP made this call even as dauntless operatives of the Force Intelligence Bureau – Special Tactical Squad/Tactical Intelligence Unit (FIB-STS/TIU), acting on actionable intelligence, successfully intercepted two suspects in connection with armed robbery, kidnapping, illegal possession of prohibited firearms, and criminal conspiracy, on 29th May, 2022 in Taraba State. The suspects are Abdulrahman Ba’u aged 35 years, and Ahmadu Umaru aged 50 years, both male of Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The duo were arrested in possession of one locally-made revolver gun, military camouflage uniforms, three rounds of live ammunition, three operational swords, and hard drugs suspected to be Tramadol and Rafenol. The suspects confessed to being responsible for the string of kidnappings and banditry operations in Taraba, Gombe, and Adamawa States. They equally admitted to the kidnapping of one Malam Wanzam of Iware Village in Taraba State.

img 20210207 wa0023 Sequel to the commitment of the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, to continually take anti crime fight to the dens of criminals and miscreants in the state, the Police Command has arrested twenty seven (27) suspects in a planned raid of different blackspots in the Lagos metropolis between the late hours of Thursday 4th and early hours of Friday 5th February, 2021. The arrest was carried out by the operatives of the RRS being a follow up to the directive of the Commissioner of Police to the Commander, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, to place certain spots under surveillance and dislodge the criminals hibernating in the spots especially at Ikeja, Agege and Alimosho areas of Lagos State. The raid was also extended to Ile Zik, Dopemu Under Bridge, Shasha, Orisumbare, Iyana - Ipaja Underbridge, Ile - Epo, Abule Egba, Isokoko, Alfa Nla, Capitol Road, Akilo, Marketing, Alausa Central Business District among others.
