Today, I met President Muhammadu Buhari to present the demands of the Lagos #EndSARS protesters.
The President restated his commitment to embark on a holistic reform of the entire Police Force.
The President has approved a panel made up of Civil Society leaders to look at all the cases of abuse by the police.
The benefits of this genuine protest will be fully realized and I will continue to work to defend the rights of all Lagosians any and everyday.
I come back from Abuja with news that I believe will lead to concrete steps to #EndPoliceBrutality.
I met with the IGP. Starting from this week, a panel will be setup comprising of citizens to look at all cases of abuse by the police around the country.
A deep look at their activities will commence. The work will be exhaustive so prepare to submit your queries within the parameters they will share.
In Lagos, we have immediately set up a trust fund that will be managed by nominated members of the public and CSOs to compensate families that have lost loved ones to police brutality.
People like the wife of Mr Okechukwu Ilo who died in tragic circumstances will not be left out.
