
The National Youth Council of Nigeria, Forum of Coordinators in Ikorodu Division yesterday Tuesday 19th January, 2021 held an emergency meeting at Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA Secretariat to discuss the state of security and other issues affecting youth development in the entire Ikorodu Division.
The meeting which avails all the youth Coordinators an opportunity to share their views and opinions on the ways to provide necessary support to our local securities in a bid to provide a lasting solution to the issues of cultism, violence, drugs, rape, among others and work towards reviving the face of community policing among all the six LG/LCDAs in the division.
The Coordinators hereby call that:
1. All Local Council Chairmen in the division should as a matter of urgency set up Joint Task Force (JTF) in their various domains.
2. All our Local Government Chairmen in Ikorodu Division should as a matter of urgency call for peace and security meeting consisting of stakeholders including youth council coordinators as youth representative.
3. Local Government Chairmen in Ikorodu Division should empower and provide requisite funding for Police and local security outfits in their various domain.
4. NYCN will host Ikorodu Division Security Summit as a matter of urgency to discuss issues related to security and proffer measures towards achieving a lasting solution.
The Coordinators commend some CSOs, CBOs especially Ikorodu Division Youth Movement, Ikorodu Ambassadors Group and others who have been working to create social media awareness to stem this vices.
The NYCN Coordinators in the division will continue to discharge our constitutional duty as provided by the National Youth Policy and the Lagos State Youth Policy to continue to champion the future of youths in Ikorodu Division and to always organize projects and programmes that will be of benefit for youths toward ensuring a sustainable development in the entire Ikorodu Division.
The Coordinators will continue to engage stakeholders, traditional rulers, political leaders, etc. in the division for everyone to be involved so as to achieve a peaceful society.
