
In a bid to curb some of the prevalent social vices like cultism, violence, rape, drug abuse and other related security challenges in the entire Imota Local Council Development Area, the executive cabinet of National Youth Council of Nigeria, Imota LCDA Local Branch led by Comrade Folarin Adegboyega Awal today Monday 25th January, 2021 kick of a resistance campaign tagged “Catch Them Young and Say No To Cultism” in all public primary schools in the town.
The campaign programme started with a visitation to the school management and pupils’ of St. John Anglican Primary School, Imota and Community Primary School, Ori-Okuta, Imota respectively which further witnessed the presence of the members of the third executive cabinet of the Youth Council in the town.
The executive members were allowed to address all the pupils of the schools on the dangers of cultism, enligthen them on the need and the reason they must continue to study hard and always concentrate on their studies towards achieving their respective dreams in life.
According to Comrade Folarin Adegboyega Awal, Coordinator of NYCN Imota LCDA Local Branch while addressing all the pupils of the school made it known that the essence of this campaign programme is to commence the orientation of our younger brothers and sisters on the menace of cultism which is evil to our society and to start enlightening them on the advantage of embracing peace towards ensuring that the entire Imota LCDA enjoyed a lasting growth and development.
The School Head Teacher, Mrs. Oguntolu Morayo Iyabo during the closing remarks appreciate the executive cabinet of the Youth Council for dimming it fit to organize this kind of a programme which is needed towards changing the minds of all the pupils’ at this kind of period.
The School Head Boy of Community Primary School, Ori-Okuta, Imota, Master Daniel Yusuf and Head of St. John Anglican Primary School, Imota, Master Amachi Kingsley both spoke on behalf of the entire pupils of their respective schools. In the words of Master Kingsley, “Thank you sir for coming to our school to talk to us, we will not join secret cult and we will always read our books”.
