Evaluated as a preliminary game to gear the team towards a 2nd division tournament, Ikorodu city FC on the 24th of January 2022, squared off against Gbagada FC to experiment their zeal in preparation for the Nigeria national league

The clash which put up with a location at Teslim Balogun amphitheatre in surulere saw the recently established Ikorodu city FC pummeled its Gbagada football counterpart in a 3 – 1 goal leeway after 90 minutes of play

The first half was a levelled one all draw as both teams took each other in tooth and nail counter-attacking approach with the first goal by Gbagada Fc, seconded by Ikorodu Fc during the winding up of the primary match

But the returning additional half was a complete wrench of confidence (for Gbagada Fc) as Ikorodu FC took major possession of the rivalry after few changes were made by coach Abiodun to amplify its midfield

The 3 goals came from Farouk Salami, Hussein and Odibo Godwin, thereafter blinding siding the tenacity of Gbagada Fc as the game ended victoriously for Ikorodu Fc

Slated to have an encounter with SmartCity FC on Thursday 27th of January 2022 in another pre 2nd division league preparation clash, Coach Abiodun Obafemi of Ikorodu City Fc emitted (after the match) that his team hovers for victory all the way

“Our players are way better and we have what it takes to do exploits in the league, it came as a shock that we had to concede an early goal during the first half of the game

“The two goals we incise in the second half completely displayed our preeminence, leaving our opponents exhausted. It’s the same tempo we’re bringing to the game with SmartCity on Thursday” Coach Abiodun expanded
