With International Dance Day fast approaching, State chairman, Guild of Nigerian dance practitioners (Ugo Obiayo Esq) is making the Guild more visible across Ikorodu division
Broadening its scope towards harnessing performing art students, especially Dancers to be part of the Guild’s activities, Ikorodu Dance Forum has also been established by the Guild to harbour talents with objectives of carving niche for general entertainment practitioners in the region
The state chairman took a step further on the 21st of March 2022 at the Mass Communication department (Lagos state university of Science and Technology, Formerly known as Lagos State Polytechnic) to intimate aspiring entertainers on joining the creative bandwagon as the Guild project events for the first half of the year
Introduced to the students by Mr Dare Banjoko, a media trainer in the department, Ugo Obiayo Esq brought the idea and vision of the Guild closer to the intellectual minds
She continued, “Ikorodu Dance Forum (IDF) has been inaugurated in Ikorodu and is in partnership with Oshodi Arts Gallery, and am here today to officially extend our invitations to the students of Lagos State University of Science & Technology to be part of its growth”
“The Forum is a Hub for creatives to get together, share ideas, be creative, and network”
On the International Dance Day (IDD) event 2022, the state chairman highlighted the need for all interested students to participate in it
“During that period, we shall be having a 4-day Pre-IDD events/activities lined up, which would be done in partnership with the Peace Professionals (PeacePro) organisation and Oshodi Arts Gallery”
“24th to 26th of April is saved for PeacePro programmes, while 27th of April is set aside for Carnival of Colours parade”
“The carnival will be tagged “Colours of Peace, Hope and Security”, Projected not just to bring the Guild or Dance Forum to the knowledge of all of Ikorodu division, but also for us to join the campaign for peaceful co-existence, hoping for a greater tomorrow and Security for all”
Obiayo further stated that the 29th of April, which is the International Dance Day (IDD) 2022 celebration will be taking place at the Lagos Theatre, in Igando, Alimosho”
Students in the department showed great interest in joining the forum which was also well received by the Head of the department, Mrs Olayinka Idowu
