Lagos scout youth Department successfully held her first youth summit, engaging young lads in collaborations with the NDLEA, Lagos Youth Ambassadors and others.

The Summit which is the first of its kind in the State Scout Council is aimed at brainstorming with the Youths, especially on the surging cases of social vices and challenges facing them as members of the amiable Scout Association with the ambition of proffering solutions to the detected challenges.

The program ensued on Saturday 7th May 2022 at the Conference Room of the State Scout Headquarters, Lagos State Scout Council, 1, Scout way, Ogudu, Ojota, Lagos.
Themed, “The Time is Now”, All Youth members of the Lagos State Scout Youth Forum were occupied with a lecture delivery on the Topic; “Substance Abuse & The Youths”.

Assistant Commander of Narcotics Sanni Oluwaranti (ACN) in charge of Drug Demand Reduction Units of Ikorodu Area Command Kasolori, Ikorodu Lagos pointed out the Role of Scouters at their various Local Association (LA) and as a youth, asserting their functions as peer educator using their peer Leverage positively.

Indicating that the youths of their various Community live healthy lifestyles without drug abuse, and in a situation where anyone has become a victim of Substance abuse that they should try their possible best to enlighten them to seek help for treatment and they should do away with Stigma among those who are experiencing Substance Use Disorders (SUDs).
She encouraged them to start public awareness and Enlightenment Programs within the community now that June 26th is around the corner which is the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Trafficking.
She stated that they should ensure full participation of youths and the Community leader’s Involvement in the success of the program.

In the same vein, Kehinde Adewuyi (CSN) in charge of the investigation spoke extensively on modes of Operandi of the job and professionalism and as well the legal implications of Involvement of being a drug peddler, distributor and drug dealer.
Hence, he affirmatively discouraged youths not to involve in the drug business either online or offline and as well trafficking drugs.

Above all, he encourages youths to know the child of whom they are and asks them to learn a genuine and good trade now that the school is on strike.
Ambassador Funmilayo gave her lecture also on creative thinking. Emphasize various ways youth can think out of the box and be successful without engaging in crime.
At the end of the Sensitisation awareness program, The Bariga Artist forum showcases their talents with Eyo Dance Presentation as a mode of entertainment which was fantastic.

After Engr Oyetayo, National Head Quarter Commissioner (NHQ) for youths engaged the youth in another fun-filled lecture where he spoke to the youth about Etiquette, public behaviour and images in society.
The State Head Quarter Commissioner (SHQ) for youth introduced his Assistant State Head Quarter (ASHQ) for youth in person of Mrs Ajibodu Temidayo Janet to the youths.
After the briefs and subsequent lectures, the vote of thanks was given by one of the Scouters.
