373heb3nm2861911347881106326 In an overture to further upswing ideation and reproduce a conducive sphere for movie producers, The Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) TAMPAN Ikorodu chapter organised a stakeholder meeting on the 7th of July 2022.
The refined gathering tagged 'Chit-Chat with Stakeholders', also intended for positive synergy in the film sector brought in community moulders, Security agencies and Traditional heads to Labi Oasis theatre where the intensive discourse took place.
Addressing problems encountered by film producers on set as a body, the session presented concerns raised by both members and other movie practitioners within the division during film creation, particularly in the area of securing production mediums.
Furthermore, the coalition throws in motion a futuristic motion picture partnership with Ikorodu Oga Development Association (IKODASS) to further enhance its presence in gaining adequate backing and recognition in the waterbed region of Lagos State.
Speaking on the partnership, Mr Rotimi Erogbogbo, Chairman of IKODASS, lauded the association for its growing presence in Ikorodu, unlocking the doors to every foreseeable agreement to foster profitable growth in the sector.
Erogbogbo urged the association to initiate more programs and organise extensive training to validate membership for the alliance to thrive more effectively. He continued, "The leaders of this association must be ready to expose its members to every experience needed for them to prosper in our ever-competitive market. We must learn new ways of doing things, whatever we don't know then we've to go and find out about it".
"As someone that understands the movie industry, am urging everyone to do things differently, we must uncover to discover. That's why IKODASS is presently organising a Play Writing Competition for the literary inclined. This is coming under the association’s Ikorodu Literary Initiative in partnership with Promocom Ventures Limited".
"We're giving writers free mediums to explore any positive theme of their choice. Such a theme must be Ikorodu centred for the entry to qualify for evaluation and the total prize money for the Play Writing Competition is N500,000.00 in addition to a publishing contract and play performance contract".
"Ikorodu Literary Initiative is one of the association’s strategic pillars to change the narrative about our community. Am saying this because we're ready to have an agreement with TAMPAN as long as all modalities are put in place for growth and productivity in the sector" Mr Erogbogbo asserted
Elder Tunji Ojetola, National President, Association of Movie content owners and distributors of Nigeria, (Association of Yoruba film marketers of Nigeria) in his remarks credited the association for its quest to break even, instructing partners to key into the notions arising from the association. "Ojojolu is a progressive-minded individual, who's always working to earn merchandise for everyone. Forums like this are meant to improve the orientation of members which will eventually encourage talents to make an achievement story".
"Knowing your way around the industry is important just as well as hard work, it is in understanding the transition process that gives us the overtime experience to change levels".
"Am sure all members will go back home today and restructure their approach to better their alignment with this great association" Elder Ojetola added
Oluwole Oluwaseyi Ojo-jolu (chairman, TAMPAN Ikorodu) post-meeting stated that producers and actors have raised serious concerns about location props challenges.
"Most times, we have cases of area boys coming to charge our producers to pay before shooting in a particular location, and in a particular scenario it escalated into a fight".
"We also have issues with our producers getting arrested by security agencies due to their props (which involves artificial guns and matchets) and costume set-up in the process of shooting a movie". "This meeting is organised to create awareness of these prevailing occurrences and also to sensitise our members for purpose of easy identification if faced with problems of such. We are positive that this discourse will go a long way to curtail and minimise the problems we face as content creators".
Regarding TAMPAN's partnership with IKODASS, Ojojolu expanded that the synergy came up as a result of its local government film production (stage play drama) coming up soon in Lagos State, soliciting Ikorodu Oga Development Association's sponsorship.
