The Ikorodu Local Government Chairman, Hon. Wasiu Ayodeji Adesina has led the officials of Ikorodu Local Government to the Annual Tree Planting Exercise with the theme; (In Harmony with Nature) at an event that happened at the Agbele Health Centre, Agbele community, Ikorodu, Lagos state.
Representing the Deputy governor of Lagos state; Dr Obafemi Kadri Hamzat was Mr Oriyomi Hassan (Chief Agriculturist, LASPARK) who in his opening remarks stated that Climate change occurred globally and has endangered the atmosphere and exposed excess carbon which is destructive to all living things.
He noted that afforestation remains the only vital solution to maintain a harmonious relationship with the ecosystem therefore, the concerted efforts by all stakeholders to plant trees will further help the Lagos State Government achieve its 2020 to 2025 plan to save our environment from the negative effects of climate change in Lagos state.

Honourable Adesina during his remark thanked the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-olu for retaining the Annual Tree Planting Exercise, initiated by former Governor Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola.
He urges the public and private stakeholders including Community Development Associations to become an active participants in the Tree planting exercise in their respective environments.
In attendance at the annual event were Party Chieftains, Chairman of Community Development Association, Traditional Leaders, Secretary to the Local government, Honourable Lateef Afinni, the Chief of Staff, Honourable Mabunmi, Supervisors and SSA’s of Ikorodu Local Government.
