READING ACTION PROJECT: IKORODU PECULIAR LIONS CLUB ENGAGES AYANGBUREN JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL, PROVIDE GIFT ITEMS TO BRIGHT STUDENTS ®™√ INN Nigeria © 393jnn3n3m1698184568465439829 Organised to access students' grammatical capacity, members of Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club took their annual Literacy Project to Ayangburen Junior High School in Ikorodu. Dated 1st of June 2023, the 'Reading Action' program was put together to test learners on how to read and write effectively, and to upgrade their mode of articulation in English Language and Literature. Received by the school administration, ably led by its Principal, Mrs Fatokin Adetoun, the club was assembled with selected students of the school at the computer department, where the program took place. Lion Aderenle Adedoyin, who took charge of the program, explained to the students that their level of composure, use of grammar and manner of presentation is key to their learning advantage. According to her, "There are ways in which words are broken down into syllables, some words when stressed don't interpret their identity". "As students, you must work on your vowels and also do not rush your pronunciation methods," Lion Aderenle said. Essay writing titled 'My School' was assigned to the student as classwork, to further test their writing ability for 5 minutes. Subsequently, the students were given portions of their English Novels to read, which was also controlled by Lion Aderenle Adedoyin. After the basic Reading Action (Literacy) tests, Lion Aderenle Adedoyin appreciated the efforts made by all participating students, advising them to ripen on their academic performances. Furthermore, the Charter President of Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club, Lion David Akinosho, on his part, told the students to understand that they're solely responsible for their success or failure in life, implying that despite their respective backgrounds, they can emerge movers and shakers of society in the future. He asserted that the pupils must make teachers their best friends, for them to learn more and prosper intellectually. Mrs Fatokin Adetoun, Principal of Ayangburen Junior High School, at the end of the program, appreciated the club for their support to enhance the intellectual capacity of the students. She also took part in presenting gift items to participating students afterwards. Incoming President of Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club, Lion Innocent Abuaja, Lion Sulaimon Quadri, Lion Adeyoju Rotimi, and Lion Toluwalase Omowunmi were in attendance.

With four games played, the Lagos-based football club, owned by the True Covenant Church of God, has scored 9 goals so far, defeating 3 clubs and drawing one. Relating the updates to Ikorodu News Network (INN), the Youngest Bishop in Nigeria (Prophet Olufemi Otusanya Omomajemu), founder of the club, explained that his team is performing extraordinarily this season. "I appreciate God for our positive start-up to this season and am confident we're going to make a strong statement with our result-driven performances". "In our first game, we drew with Crime Fighters FC with 2 goals in all. Picking up steam on our second game, we trashed Zenith Imperio by 3 goals to 1". "In our 3rd game at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Admiralty Navy town Ojo, we defeated Sporting Lagos FC by 2 goals to 1, and afterwards we toppled Valliant FC by same 2 goals to 1 margin, given us the 3rd spot on the league table," He said. According to Bishop Omomajemu, TCCG FC is currently training and slated to play another club, Spartan FC at the Legacy Pitch in Surulere on the 16th of May 2023.

GITEX PITCH COMPETITION: POCKET FOOD, AFRICA COMICADE, ALAJO, AND OTHERS EMERGE WINNERS AT LAGOS ROADSHOW GITEX PITCH COMPETITION ®™√ INN Nigeria © 90009889ooo3533601261816503390 Eight (8) startup businesses have emerged winners of the Gitex Pitch Competition, Lagos Roadshow edition which was held at the Eko Innovation Center, Ikoyi on Friday. The winners at the Lagos Roadshow Event are Pocket Food; Fuspay Technologies; Byte; Africa Comicade, Get Equity; Alajo; Instant Rad and Dataleum. The Lagos State Government in partnership with Eko Innovation Center would be sponsoring these startups on an all-expense paid session to Morocco and Dubai for the Gitex Supernova Pitch Competition where the entrepreneurs will pitch their ideas and compete on a global scale before fund managers and investors. Olatunbosun Alake, Special Adviser on Innovation and Technology to the Lagos State Government reaffirmed the State’s commitment to partnering with the Dubai World Trade Center, organizers of Gitex Global, to provide the platform for young companies or small businesses to become global companies and operate on a global scale. “It is an opportunity for Lagos startups to showcase their ingenuity across a global audience, as it helps to validate their products and services, puts them in front of other competitors as well as exposure for investment opportunities to Nigeria”, he said. The Lagos Roadshow Event recorded over 130 entries for the pitch competition. The best 30 were shortlisted to pitch and 8 startups eventually emerged as winners. Gitex is an acronym for Gulf Information Technology Exhibition. It is an annual global tech show, organized by, and taking place at, the Dubai World Trade Centre in the United Arab Emirates. It is the largest gathering of entrepreneurs all over the world, a global platform with the best collaborators, mentors and innovators giving opportunities for visibility and funding. Babajimi Benson MHR, has stated his plans to further enhance Ikorodu Division Educational sector in the area of technology. Rep. Benson made the statement to Ikorodu News Network (INN) on the 22nd of September 2023, at his constituency office, the same day he empowered market men and women across the division with cash gifts. According to him, "It is vital now for us as leaders to inculcate technology into the learning and growth phase of our young ones". "Technology is now the order of the day, it keeps the mindset proactive, enabling youngsters to become self-employed at a very early stage" "In India today, it has been discovered that most of the youths did not pass out of the university, simply because they are technologically inclined, it has helped them to become employers of labor". "If we create such a tech-footing for our students here in Ikorodu, there is no telling what they can achieve, all we need to do is provide the medium, which I am prioritizing in addition to other development plans I have for my constituents". Rep. Benson recently provided an ICT training center for Anglican primary school in Isawo community of Ikorodu West LCDA. The center contains; 16 computer sets, a projector, and screen, an internet dish plus server, a Generator, and 8 Solar batteries with a 16-panel solar system to last 18 hours in training. The project was commissioned on Friday the 22nd of September 2023 by Chief Asipa Kaoli Olusanya and presided over by the Executive Chairman of Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA, Bldr. Olusesan Daini. Receiving a high level of commendation from the school administration, Princess Basirat, the councillor of ward C1 and Deputy leader of Igbogbo Baiyeku legislative chamber, appreciated the leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC) for a timeless mentorship. She also acknowledged Ikorodu apex leader, Asipa Kaoli, and her council boss, Bldr. Sesan Daini for leading the pack effectively, providing her with a palatable room to function. Furthermore, she commended the Methodist primary school administration for cooperating with her towards the successful completion of the project. According to Princess Basirat, the sole aim of the project is to help students by providing them with a better learning environment. The program, themed; 'Maintaining A Clean Environment', she explained that the school is observing overpopulation, which causes inconveniences for pupils. "It was due to those inconveniences that spurred me to get to work on facilitating the extra classrooms as a form of service to humanity," she said. Speaking to Ikorodu News Network (INN), Princess Basirat illustrated that the school also lacked access to clean water which prompted her (as councillor of the ward) to provide the tank, stand and fetching point. Urging the school administration to apply maintenance culture in preserving the resources, Princess pleads with everyone to imbibe the heart of giving. The Executive Chairman of Igbogbo Baiyeki LCDA, Bldr. Sesan Daini, in his address dubbed the day celebratory, equally applauding the project facilitator, Princess Basirat Banjoko. Emphasising performance, Bldr Daini expressed his satisfaction towards all councillors in Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA working and making things better in their numerous wards. Bringing his attention to Methodist Primary School, he said, "Seeing this project is a challenge to me!". ADEBOLA AKIN-BRIGHT: LAGOS ASSEMBLY REVEALS MORE ABOUT DOCTOR WHO PERFORMED SURGERY, WRITES POLICE COMMISSIONER, COMMITTEE BROADENS INVESTIGATION ®™√ INN Nigeria © img 20230922 wa00194052512174661337085 The chairman of the Lagos Assembly ad-hoc committee with the mandate to investigate the circumstances that led to the disappearance of Adebola Akin-Bright's small intestine, Hon. Noheem Adams, has told his colleagues that the doctor who performed surgery twice on the boy is not a qualified surgeon. This is as the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, during plenary on Thursday, directed the Clerk, Barr. Olalekan Onafeko, to write to the State police command for the arrest of Dr. Abayomi Baiyewu of Obitoks Hospital in the Alimosho area of Lagos. Adebola died on Tuesday shortly after the House called on Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to further assist him seek treatment abroad. While thanking Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his effort at the period the boy was being treated at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Speaker Obasa directed that a letter conveying the condolence message of the House be sent to the family. Dr. Obasa further asked the committee to look into other grey areas including inviting officials of the Health Facility Monitoring and Accreditation Agency (HEFAMAA) which has the law-backed responsibility to monitor private hospitals operating in the State. The Speaker further asked the committee to review the extant law so as to know if it should be amended just as he said private hospitals can be made to always report their activities to the government at all times. Formally announcing Adebola's death, Hon. Adams said the boy's case was disheartening. He said when the committee visited him on Tuesday, he still spoke with the lawmakers. He, however, said during investigation, the committee learnt from Dr. Baiyewu that he is not a surgeon but only relied on his experience as a medical doctor. He also said Baiyewu, whose testimonies were recorded, told the committee that he did not carry out any medical examination on the boy before the first surgery which he did himself adding that he only relied on the report from a hospital the patient was first taken to. Noheem said after Baiyewu did the first surgery, the boy continued to complain about stomach pain and was taken back to Obitoks Hospital where Baiyewu carried out another round of surgery by himself. Following more complications, Hon. Noheem said the boy was taken to LASUTH where it was confirmed that part of his intestine was missing. The lawmaker said as a doctor, Baiyewu should have taken the excised part of the boy's body to a pathological department for test, but that "Dr. Baiyewu told the committee that the body parts were mistakenly discarded," and that the doctor had planned to do a third surgery before the boy was taken to LASUTH. After Noheem's submission, the House commiserated with the bereaved family with Deputy Speaker Mojisola Meranda calling for the sealing of the hospital. Another member of the committee, Hon. Lawal Aina, told his colleagues it was a pitiable sight when the committee visited Adebola at the hospital. He added that upon interrogation, it was discovered that Dr. Baiyewu proved not to have been a certified surgeon. Some of the lawmakers who spoke on the issue, suggested that a formal complaint be made against Dr. Baiyewu to the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria for action while others urged stricter monitoring of medical doctors and hospitals.
